England Premier League
Sunday 14th March 2021
Kick off at 2pm GMT
Venue: King Power Stadium
Match Preview:
Leicester in 3rd place will be the clear favourites to win this game and for a few hours at least could go 2nd with victory.
The Foxes have 53 points and are just 1 point behind 2nd placed Manchester United and they will be determined not to blow their top 4 chances after what happened last season. The problem for Brendan Rodgers side has been the emergence of Chelsea who are just 3 points behind and with the same games played. By the time this match is played Chelsea could be in front of them on goal difference.
The threat doesn’t stop with Chelsea though, West Ham, Everton and Tottenham also remain dangerous, and each one of them has a game in hand over Leicester, so they need to keep winning games. With all due respect to Sheffield United Leicester need to be beating the team who are in bottom position and being at home only underlines that. Form has been good for the Foxes with 3 wins from their last five games and just one loss which came against Arsenal here.
Sheffield United are surely down but still they have shown positive signs and at least they haven’t been taking many beatings this season. But the big news coming out of the club is that manager Chris Wilder is set to leave. Rumours have suggested that him and the board have fallen out and it is possible that the Blades will come into this game with no manager. A ship lost at sea with no direction surely means that the club’s finish to this season will nosedive even further.
The Blades’ form is poor with 4 defeats from their last five games and last weekend they lost at home to Southampton 2-0. Currently the club are 12 points from safety and 4 points behind 19th placed West Bromwich Albion.
Team News:
Leicester: Harvey Barnes won’t be back for at least 3 weeks with his knee injury. Justin James is out for the season with his knee, James Maddison is out until next month with his hip injury. Cengiz Under is out for a few weeks with his thigh injury.
Sheffield United: Chris Basham has recovered from his hamstring and is 50/50 to make this game. Joe Egan could miss another month due to his toe injury, Jack Robinson is still out with a knock.
Leicester vs Sheffield Utd Head to Head:
Leicester have won the last six meetings against Sheffield United.
Leicester won this fixture 2-0 last season.
Sheffield United have not beaten Leicester since 2008.
Leicester vs Sheffield Utd Prediction:
This looks like being a predictable home win at the weekend. Not only do Leicester have an excellent record over the Blades but are also a better team, have home advantage, and have a manager in the dug out. Leicester are around 1.50 to win this game but we can increase that with no extra risk using a -1 asian handicap.
This is a game that Leicester need to be bullish about and attack from the first whistle, it is another step to achieving Champions League qualification and we expect a solid win in this home match for the Foxes.
Sheffield United will try and frustrate their opponents but if they go behind early it is going to have consequences. It will be hard for the players to keep up any kind of motivation without Chris Wilder at the helm, and you feel his departure will have winded the squad.
Leicester vs Sheffield Utd Betting Tips:
