England Premier League
Friday 7th May 2021
Kick off at 8pm BST
Venue: King Power Stadium
Match Preview:
Leicester have a huge opportunity to stamp their top 3 status with victory at the weekend and being at home and playing the team currently in 17th place they will be the favourites to do so.
Brendan Rodgers side are in 3rd place with 63 points but Chelsea are only 2 points behind. The club have a 5 point advantage over West Ham in 5th. It hasn’t been all plain-sailing for the Foxes though and they could only draw 1-1 against Southampton last weekend even though the Saints had had Jan Vestregaard sent off early on. Leicester are in good form though and have at least gone their last 3 games undefeated but at the back of their minds will be the fact that they failed for the top four in the closing weeks last season and they won’t want a repeat performance.
At home recent form has been good with 3 wins from their last four and their last home victory came against Crystal Palace in a 2-1 win.
Newcastle have gone their last 2 games without a win and last weekend they lost at home to Arsenal 2-0. The good news though for the Magpies is that they are 9 points clear of the bottom three and they should be safe, it only takes 1 more win or Fulham losing this weekend to confirm that. Recent form has been good by Steve Bruce’s team who have just that Arsenal defeat in their last five and they have picked up 8 points in their last five games.
Away from home form has been good also with just the one defeat in their last four outings which came against Brighton. Their last away game ended in an impressive 1-1 draw with Liverpool. Overall though the club have lost 9 times on the road.
Team News:
Leicester: No new injuries but Harvey Barnes and Wes Morgan are both out long term with a knee injury and back injury respectively.
Newcastle: Elliot Anderson has a hip injury and has not been ruled out but is a doubt. Karl Darlow is out with a knee injury, Ryan Fraser misses out with his groin. Jamaal Lascelles is out with his foot. Fabian Schar is suspended because of his red card last week. Isaac Hayden is out for the season due to his knee injury.
Leicester vs Newcastle Head to Head:

There is a 70% chance to see over 2.5 goals based on their recent league meetings.
Leicester’s James Maddison has scored in the last 2 meetings over Newcastle.
Leicester vs Newcastle Prediction:
Newcastle aren’t officially safe but they will be and we believe that means they can play with some freedom, either the game will pass them by much like their defeat last weekend against Arsenal or they will take points from Leicester.
Leicester have recorded good wins recently over the Magpies and Rodgers needs to hammer it into his team that this is akin to a cup final. It really is a huge game for the club. True if they lost this their dreams would still be alive but with a question mark. This is a game that lays down those foundations for Champions League football next season.
Whilst we believe Leicester will win the game, we will use a "-1 asian handicap" to increase the odds with no extra risk.
Leicester vs Newcastle Betting Tips:
Asian handicap (-1 Leicester) at 1.65
Anytime goalscorer: Kelechi Iheanacho at 1.90
Both teams to score at 1.91
