Leicester vs Liverpool: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Monday 15th May 2023
Kick off at 8pm BST
Venue: King Power Stadium

Match Preview:

What a clash this game promises to be as Leicester will be fighting for the Premier League survival but on the otherside Liverpool will need to win to keep a possible top four finish alive.

Leicester are in 19th place with 30 points and a win would be huge for them as it would take them out of the bottom three and dump Everton back into trouble. Of course whatever happens in this game the relegation battle will not be set in stone and there is still plenty to play for but this would be a bitter blow for the Foxes to come away with nothing. Recent form has seen just one loss however that happened in the clubs last game as they were soundly beaten 5-3. Home form for the Foxes has been a major sticking point with just 16 points from a possible 51 however they have managed to go unbeaten in their last two here after a 2-1 victory over Wolves and a 2-2 draw against fellow strugglers Everton.

Liverpool have seen the top four open up and from having almost no chance at a crack of qualifying for next season they will now fancy their chances. Of course the odds remain slim as the Reds are four points behind 4th placed Manchester United having played the same games and if they were not to win this game that could spell the end of a top four finish. However it is fair to say that Jurgen Klopp’s side have turned a corner and they have won their last seven games. This stunning form has given the club a chance. Of course home form has been fantastic for the Reds even in an indifferent season for them but on the road overall they have struggled. The good news is that recent away form has perked up and they are unbeaten in the last 3 including victories in their last two with wins over Leeds and West Ham, and they were able to score 8 goals in those games.

Team News:

Liverpool: Roberto Firmino misses out due to a lack of match fitness but could return next week, it is the same case for Naby Keita. Thiago Alcantara has now been ruled out for the season with a hip injury.

Leicester vs Liverpool Head to Head:

Last season Leicester won this fixture 1-0.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Liverpool won 2-1.

There is a 60% chance to see both teams to score.

Leicester vs Liverpool Prediction:

Leicester will give it their all and they won’t make life easy for Liverpool. There is always a special atmosphere for home games played in the evening and we should see a very interesting game. The problem with Leicester is that they have lacked real quality at times and still look unbalanced, it would still however be a surprise to see the club go down, because they seem too good to do so, but those are famous last words.

We know of Liverpool’s qualities and if this game was only three months ago we wouldn’t have too much confidence in the Reds coming away with a win but there has been a clear shift and how they have come into games and they can keep their European hopes alive with a win here and we think at the end of the day the Reds possess too much quality for the Foxes and we expect to see an away win.
