Leicester vs Everton: Preview and Prediction

Leicester vs Everton
Wednesday 16th December 2020
Kick off at 6pm GMT
Venue: King Power Stadium

Match Preview:

Yet again the work rate at Leicester is astounding and just when you think after some points dropped that the Foxes will retreat they come out for the attack once again. This has led to Brendan Rodgers side winning their last two games after previously recording two defeats in a row and they have climbed back up to 3rd place and are only 1 point from first position.

Last weekend Leicester were pumped and when they play like this you get the feeling that they can take on anyone in the league. This time the victims were Brighton as Leicester ran out 3-0 winners. It hasn’t always been plain sailing at King Power Stadium though and in fact Leicester have won just 50% of their games here, they have yet to draw at home.

Are Everton out of their bad patch of games? That will be the question being posed as they prepare for what looks like a difficult away fixture. Last weekend was a memorable one for the club as they beat Chelsea 1-0 at home, becoming just the second side to beat the Blues. It felt surprising only because Everton had lost to Leeds in their previous home game and have not been on a good run.

Still there is a feeling that could change and the club have lost just once in their last four matches. Also despite a tough run Everton only find themselves 5 points adrift of the top spot and it seems that there is all to play for. Away from home Carlo Ancelotti’s team have won 50% of their games and have lost 2 from six so far but have gone their last two games unbeaten.

Team News:

Leicester: Jonny Evans is suspended for this game after picking up his fifth yellow of the season. Timothy Castagne has an ongoing hamstring problem, he was pencilled in to return but he may miss out and recover for the weekend instead.

Everton: James Rodriguez missed the Chelsea game with a groin injury and is only 50/50 to make this match. Fabian Delph and Lucas Digne are out long term and Seamus Coleman has recovered from his hamstring and is 50/50 to take some part in this encounter.

Leicester vs Everton Head to Head:

Last season Leicester won this fixture 2-1.

The correct score of 2-1 has been the final result in 4 of the last five fixtures with Everton winning 3 of those games.

There is a 70% chance to see both teams to score.

Leicester vs Everton Prediction:

A very hard game to call as no one team has a dominating recent history against the other and both sides have shown the quality to finish in the top four this season and mid table.

We should see a very open game though, and if Everton’s defence can stay well disciplined like it did against Chelsea then the away team does have the attack to punish Leicester.

If James is back for Everton that will be a boost and he can work very well with Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin who still seems so thirsty in front of goal. Leicester have the players to hurt Everton too in Maddison and Vardy of course, so we are expecting goals and one of our choices will be to see both sides to score, which does have a good winning standard in these games, and we will back the home side to get something from this game.
