England Premier League
Monday 1st May 2023
Kick off at 8pm BST
Venue: King Power Stadium
Match Preview:
A titanic game is set to be played at King Power Stadium on Monday evening which will tell us more of who could potentially survive and be relegated in the Premier League this season. Leicester will feel they have an advantage to be at home and they come into this clash in 18th place and just one point ahead of Everton in 19th. If we can find a winner on Monday the guarantee is not to be in the relegation zone and either side would slot into 16th place. There would still be the danger of going down, but a lot of relief also and that relief has been helped by Leeds and Nottingham Forest both losing at the weekend, those two teams are still in the mix to go down.
Leicester have been able to go their last 2 games undefeated which has included a 2-1 win over Wolves and a 1-1 draw against Leeds and being able to achieve 4 points at this stage of the season is worth it’s weight in gold. At home the Foxes though have the second to worst record in the league with 15 points won from a possible 48 and they have lost here 9 times and won four. However their recent dreadful run here was ended with the recent victory over Wolves.
Everton are deep in a relegation battle yet again and it feels as if all eyes are on the club given that it’s been 70 years since they were least relegated and naturally the club have been very proud of their record. It’s all up for grabs though yet again and one has to wonder if Everton were to lose this game if they could recover? At times the club have played well but not well enough and their dismal form has yielded just 2 points from their last 15.
Sean Dyche’s side lost 4-1 at home to Newcastle in their last game and their last away game ended 0-0 against Crystal Palace. The problem for the Toffees has been away form where they have won just once so far and lost 50% of their outings with seven draws. Only 10 goals have been managed on the road also. One could point to the fact that the club have lost one game from their last four on the road but being all draws simply isn’t going to help them enough in the position they are in, three points will feel like six now and that is what they need.
Team News:
Leicester: Ryan Bertrand will be assessed because of a lack of match fitness after a lengthy spell out, it is the same situtaion for Jonny Evans. Kelechi Iheanacho could be ruled out for the season with a groin injury and is currently not due back until the end of May. Ricrado Pereira will miss out due to a hamstring injury.
Everton: Seamus Coleman could return after a hamstring injury and is being tipped too but will be assessed. Ruben Vinagre is sidelined with his Achilles and Andros Townsend is out due to fitness issues.
Leicester vs Everton Head to Head:
Last season Everton won this fixture 2-1.
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Leicester won 2-0.
Leicester have managed just one win from the past six meetings.
3 of the last four meetings has seen both teams to score.
Leicester vs Everton Prediction:
Jamie Vardy would have been delighted to have scored last weekend and as we know once a forward scores a goal after a long drought they can score a few in their next games, and that could be a real danger sign for Everton’s defence. Everton have been poor away from home but have recorded some good wins over Leicester here over the past few years, the one snag is that when they win here they lose on their next visit and that has repeated for the last three times and looks to be a pattern.
Leciester certainly have more about them coming into this game but the goals in Everton seem possible for Dominic Calvert-Lewin. He is looking sharper now after his injury lay off and was very unlucky not to get a goal against Newcastle last time out that was ruled out by VAR for a shoulder being off side. Will he get the rub of the green this time? This is a tough game for Everton, but they must remain with belief and be bullish, they have a full time manager in Sean Dyche who still gets talked about highly in some circles and this is a make or break game, he and his team have to deliver. However, we believe the team most likely to deliver are Leicester, and that is who we will back.
