Leicester vs Arsenal: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 25th February 2023
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: King Power Stadium

Match Preview:

Leicester will be the underdogs even at home to win this game but they have been a club even in this troubling season who remain unpredictable. One moment Brendan Rodgers side look destined to struggle in the bottom three and the next they look like a team who could push for a top half table finish. It’s certainly been an interesting if not frustrating campaign for the Foxes.

In their last game Leicester were soundly beaten 3-0 away to Manchester United which did feel like an expected result. However they had gone 3 games unbeaten previous to that and had recorded some terrific results. Tottenham were beaten 4-1 and Aston Villa were humbled 4-2 in that time. Rodgers side come into this weekend in 14th place and with 24 points they are only four short of being sucked back into the bottom three.

Arsenal have been through many emotions in the past week, that has involved feeling a title challenge slip when they lost 3-1 at home to Manchester City which saw the champions finally dethrone the Gunners. However it only lasted for three days as City dropped two points in their next game and Arsenal beat Aston Villa. All of this means that the Gunners have a 2 point lead at the top and have a game in hand over City. Arsenal’s form has not been good with just 1 win from their last four and 7 points from their last 15 and they will be hoping that it is a natural wobble more than anything else. The Gunners showed good mental back bone though as last weekend they looked to be headed for their 3rd defeat in four games but they came back gloriously against Aston Villa to win 4-2.

Team News:

Leicester: Ryan Bertrand could be assessed but is a doubt with a lack of match fitness. James Maddison is a doubt with a knee problem but hasn’t been ruled out and will be assessed. There are long term injuries to Sammy Braybrooke, Jonny Evans and Justin James.

Arsenal: Gabriel Jesus was expected back for this game but it looks like he will miss out again but should return next week. Thomas Partey may return from a muscle injury and will be assessed.

Leicester vs Arsenal Prediction:

Arsenal are odds on but are good value to win this game. Granted Leicester are no pushovers and they are a team that can cause others problems. Arsenal have to start this match at 110% and any lost focus and we could see a repeat of the Villa game and Arsenal will not be able to pull that out of the bag every time, not in that nature.

But Arsenal certainly have the quality to win this one and in scoring 4 goals against Villa and avoiding defeat that would have given the players a lift. By no means is this an easy game but we expect the Gunners to find a win and they also have a very good recent record over the Foxes too. Let’s also remind ourselves that Arsenal have been able to score 11 times against Leicester in the last four meetings and it is the Gunners that remain the most dangerous side in this fixture.
