England Premier League
Wednesday 4th January 2023
Kick off at 7:45pm GMT
Venue: Elland Road
Match Preview:
Here we have two sides who are both looking to find form although out of the two Leeds have better form and being at home they will be the favourites to win this one.
Leeds are in 14th place with 16 points and are two points above their visitors but they have no wins in their last 3 and have lost two of their last three. However in Leeds last game they pulled out a terrific result by taking rare points from Newcastle as they drew 0-0 away from home. At home Leeds have won 3 but also lost 3 and they lost their last home game against Manchester City.
West Ham have had a poor season so far but victory here would take them out of danger for now and would also take them past Leeds so there is a lot to play for. The Hammers have zero points from their last five games and only goal difference is keeping them out of the bottom three as they come into this one in 17th place. West Ham lost 2-0 in their last game against Brentford and the pressure is really mounting on manager David Moyes.
There is worse news for the Londoners and that is they have the second to worst away record in the league where they have won just 4 points from 24 and one point from their last 15. In the Hammers last away game they lost 3-1 against Arsenal.
Team News:
Leeds: Patrick Bamford has a lack of match fitness and may be assessed but remains a doubt. Stuart Dallas is still out with a leg injury and not due back for two weeks. Archie Gray is also out with an ankle injury and won’t be back until mid January. Luis Sinisterra has a foot injury but could return in a few weeks.
West Ham: Maxwell Cornet has a calf injury and could be assessed but this game may come too soon for him. Kurt Zouma looks likely to remain sidelined with his knee.
Leeds vs West Ham Head to Head:
Last season West Ham won this fixture 2-1.
West Ham have won 4 of the last 5 five meetings.
There is a 70% chance to see both teams to score.
Leeds vs West Ham Prediction:
You get the feeling that David Moyes time is near an end at West Ham and it has been incredibly unfortunate given how well he started his second term with the club. But they have come crashing down with a thump and the worry is how he hasn’t been able to get the best out of the players he has especially the new signings.
Leeds will take heart from getting a draw away to Newcastle and keeping a clean sheet in the process and returning back home we will be backing them to get all three points here. Only 7 teams have scored more at home than Leeds and one has to assume that even though Leeds have not been sparkling so far that they may enjoy opportunities against this current Hammers back four.
