Leeds vs Man Utd: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 25th April 2021
Kick off at 2pm BST
Venue: Elland Road

Match Preview:

History books would need to go into several volumes to analyse the history between these two teams as they meet for the 109th time on Sunday. The last time the clubs played there were 8 goals and we will be hoping to see something close to that this weekend.

Leeds have the chance to pass Arsenal and move into 9th place where they could go 3 points behind Everton. A Europa League finish could be on the cards for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, which would add the icing on the cake in a season which has been a huge success for the club. Leeds are in very good form too and have beaten league leaders Manchester City and followed that up with a 1-1 draw against Liverpool in midweek.

Leeds are unbeaten in their last five game and at home they are unbeaten in three losing their last game here against Aston Villa almost two months ago.

Manchester United are protecting an unbeaten away record, the Red Devils are in 2nd place with 66 points and look set to finish as runners up this season. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side do have a game in hand over Manchester City but are 11 points behind, they are also 7 points in front of 3rd placed Leicester. United have the best form in the league presently after winning their last 6 games, and last weekend they beat Burnley 3-1.

Away from home it is 10 wins and six draws from 16 games and that includes winning their last two. With 30 goals scored on the road only Manchester City have scored more with 32 so far.

Team News:

Leeds: Liam Cooper is suspended and serving a 3 match ban for his sending off. Raphinha is back in training after his knock but is expected to miss this game. Rodrigo could return next week from a muscle injury but has been ruled out for this encounter.

Manchester United: KMarcus Rashford has a minor foot injury and is hopeful to play, Phil Jones and Anthony Martial are out long term both suffering from knee injuries.

Leeds vs Man Utd Head to Head:

lEarlier in the season in the reverse fixture this match finished 6-2 to Manchester United.

The last time the clubs played here was in the League Cup back in 2011 and Manchester United won 3-0.

There is a 60% chance to see both teams to score.

Leeds vs Man Utd Prediction:

We expect to see a good attacking game since Manchester United look set for 2nd place and Leeds will try to finish in the top half of the table. There is really no disaster for either team to go gung-ho in this game and both can play with some freedom. This will hopefully transpire into a good entertaining game to watch.

The only negative for Manchester United is the one eye on the Europa League next week where they will play Roma in the semi-finals. It will be on the teams mind. Leeds are in good spirits and will try to take advantage of any changes that Solskjaer’s makes but we think that the Red Devils can do the double over Leeds and we do expect to see goals. There are goals in these two sides and we could see a very fast pace to the game in the early stages, Leeds have been good and that should be respected but Manchester United are the most in form side in the league for a reason, and are playing some of their best football currently under Solskjaer.
