England Premier League
Saturday 30th April 2022
Kick off at 5:30pm BST
Venue: Elland Road
Match Preview:
Leeds have improved under Jesse Marsch even if it hasn’t always been pretty and yet the club could still get dragged into the relegation battle between Burnley and Everton. A win would be huge at the weekend, it would most probably save Leeds but would also blow up the league title in Liverpool’s favour. In short no one is expecting a home victory.
What Marsch at least is attempting to do is stop Leeds from being the whipping boys of the Premier League. The club has conceded just 1 goal in their last three games and their last match ended 0-0 against Crystal Palace away from home. As it stands Leeds are in 16th place and 3 points ahead of Burnley and 5 ahead of the bottom three. At a quick glance with five games to go Leeds look in a decent position but they have a whole host of difficult games coming up and of course this is the hardest test for them even though they will be at home. Form is good for Leeds though with no defeats in their last five games.
Manchester City were involved in one of the great Champions League games in midweek as they beat Real Madrid 4-3 at home in the semi-final 1st leg. City cannot afford to write this game off and only focus on the 2nd leg- a luxury they would have had normally but Liverpool in 2nd place are only a point behind them, so this is a must win game. If City play at the levels they showed against Real Madrid they will have no problem to win this game but this isn’t an easy place to come too.
Form for City is good but not spectacular for them with 11 points earned from their last 15. However they have won their last two league games beating Brighton and Watford and scoring 8 goals in those games and goals can come from everywhere in this side. City also has the best away form in the league with 39 points won from a possible 48 and just one defeat. Pep Guardiola’s side are all about attack and goals but actually they have the best defensive record away from home with just 8 goals conceded.
Team News:
Leeds: Andy Forshaw has been ruled out for the season with a knee injury. Patrick Bamford is back in training but isn’t expected back for another week at least. Tyler Roberts is out for the season with a hamstring injury.
Manchester City: John Stones has a slight muscle injury and will be assessed. Kyle Walker is only 50/50 to return after his ankle injury.
Leeds vs Man City Head to Head:
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Manchester City destroyed Leeds 7-0.
Last season this fixture finished in a 1-1 draw.
There is a 60% chance to see both teams to score.
Leeds vs Man City Prediction:
Leeds are in good form and having Marsch in the dug out has really helped the team at this time. The club are in great spirits and have a good confidence about them but they will also be edgy here as they know they could still be sucked down to the bottom three. One has to wonder if Leeds believe that they can get something from this game or is it a game where they will try and frustrate City but also look to the next game?
City should have few problems here they are on a roll and not struggling for goals and that makes them a dangerous opponent. They are odds on and not many will like their price of 1.25 so we will look into different markets. Jack Grealish scored earlier in the season against Leeds and he didn’t get much game time in the clubs Champions League game in midweek so we will back Guardiola to start with the English international and for him to get on the score sheet, City should be good for a few goals here despite how well Leeds have improved.
Leeds vs Man City Betting Tips:
Handicap: Manchester City to beat Leeds with a -1 goal start at 1.72
Anytime goalscorer: Jack Grealish at 3.00
