England Premier League
Sunday 7th November 2021
Kick off at 2pm GMT
Venue: Elland Road
Match Preview:
Leeds have had a campaign mostly to forget up until now and they will be aiming to turn it around as they come into this game in 17th place.
Form has picked up in recent weeks with just 1 defeat in their last four games and that includes two wins - their first two of the season. Last weekend they beat Norwich but with all due respect had they dropped points against the poorest side in the league a lot of questions would have been asked.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side have to be amongst one of the favourites to go down and they are only 2 points clear of the bottom three, this would have been an impossible situation after their brilliant start last season. At home Leeds have just 1 victory however they are unbeaten in their last two games.
Leicester are in 12th place and at times have looked like their old selves- witness a 4-2 battering of Manchester United the other week. But the Foxes are not as zippy as they were last season and are six points from their objective of a top four place. Leicester lost 2-0 at home to Arsenal last weekend and that ended a 4 game unbeaten run. The Arsenal defeat has underlined the problems the Foxes have at this time, it normally would have been a solid home win for Brendan Rodgers side, even though they started to play well later in the game.
On the road the Foxes have been decent recently having lost just once in their last four games and their last away game ended 2-1 against Brentford.
Team News:
Leeds: Luke Ayling and Patrick Bamford are out with long term injuries to their knee and ankle respectively. Junior Firpo has an outside chance to return but has some fitness issues. Robin Koch is expected back at the end of the month and Jamie Shackleton has a knock but is being tipped to be fine.
Leicester: Marc Albrighton is expected to miss out because of a knock. Justin James and Wesley Fofana are out long term.
Leeds vs Leicester Head to Head:
Last season this fixture finished 4-1 to Leciester.
There has been 13 goals scored in the last 3 meetings between the teams.
Leeds has just 1 victory over Leicester in the last six meetings.
Leeds vs Leicester Prediction:
Leeds would love to win this home game just before the international break but make no mistake they will be facing a quality side, an unpredictable quality side, but still a quality side that can punish your mistakes. You’d have to worry about this Leeds defence against Leicester too and if Jamie Vardy is having one of those days he will be an absolute nightmare for the Leeds back four.
This should be an open game, but Leeds need to be cautious, they are not out of the woods at all and you feel that Leicester will be the more adventurous.
Whilst a gap in quality remains between the teams it is interesting to note that if Leeds were to win they would close the gap on the Foxes to just one point. Leeds do not have much of a chance here if the right Leicester side turn up, however we should respect the fact that Leeds have had that bit more bite about them in recent weeks and at home could be a danger, but we still think it's best to side with the away team with the draw covered on the refund.
