Leeds vs Leicester: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Monday 2nd November 2020
Kick off at 8pm GMT
Venue: Elland Road

Match Preview:

The Monday night game will see Leeds and Leicester do battle in what promises to be an electric night of football.

Both sides have started the campaign in blazing fashion albeit with a few bumps in the road and the feeling around this game is that both clubs will go for the jugular and play some good attacking football.

Leeds are in 9th place with 10 points and have won 50% of their games so far. Their last win was one of their most impressive as they beat Aston Villa 3-0 who were at that point unbeaten in the league and quite fresh from destroying Liverpool 7-2 and beating Leicester themselves. Patrick Bamford scored a hat trick in the Villa win and really announced himself as a dangerous game player in the Premier League.

With a win Marcelo Bielsa’s side could be back within the top 10 and just 3 points behind the league leaders. At home Leeds have won 1, lost 1 and drawn one though slightly concering for Bielsa will be the fact that his side have gone their last two home games without victory.

Leicester ended a 2 game losing run in style by beating Arsenal away from home. The Gunners were running the show but Jamie Vardy yet again scored against them with just ten mimutes remaining and that settled the game. It was a very important win for the Foxes who had started the season well only to see defeats against West Ham and Aston Villa halt their progress.

Brendan Rodgers side come into this game in seventh place and are two points in front of Leeds. On the road the club have a 100% record and only Tottenham can claim that also. That includes beating quality like Arsenal and Manchester City.

Team News:

Leeds: Whilst the club do have some longer term injuries they have no new injury worries since last weekend.

Leicester: Timothy Castagne has been ruled out with a hamstring injury and is expected to miss the next 3 weeks. Jonny Evans has a back injury but is being pencilled in to return for this game and will face a late test.

Leeds vs Leicester Head to Head:

The clubs have not played each other in the league since 2014 when Leicester won 1-0.

The last 4 league games ended in under 2.5 goals.

The last time the clubs played a competitve game was in 2017 in the league cup where Leciester at home won 3-1.

Leeds vs Leicester Prediction:

We are expecting a really good game of football and even though history says this fixture in recent times doesn’t have many goals we think that will change and so one of our choices will be over 2.5 goals.

Leeds will be strong at home this season but are facing one of the best away sides in the league and we have to respect that but with an open market and good value to be had we will back Leeds to have done their homework and get the win but with the draw covered for extra safety.

We also think Patrick Bamford has a good chance to add to his goals tally.

Leeds vs Leicester Betting Tips:

Asian handicap (0.0 Leeds) at 1.88

Over 2.5 goals at 1.72

Anytime goalscorer: Patrick Bamford at 2.75
