Leeds vs Fulham: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 23rd October 2022
Kick off at 2pm BST
Venue: Elland Road

Match Preview:

Are these worrying times for Leeds? Jesse Marsch has quite a job to do and while he is a charmer and quite funny in his press conferences he needs to buckle down and get on with a huge job of keeping Leeds in the Premier League.

Leeds come into this game in 16th place and have 9 points with just their goal difference meaning that they are not in the bottom three. It’s been just 2 wins so far this season and they have already lost 50% of their matches. Of all the clubs Leeds have the worst form coming into the game with Fulham, having lost their last 3 in a row. Apart from Arsenal the other two defeats have been against bottom half teams in Leicester and Crystal Palace. At home the picture is much better with just one defeat, a narrow one at that against Arsenal but they have earned 8 of their 9 points here and so should have some confidence coming into this one.

Fulham beat Aston Villa 3-0 in midweek which led to Steven Gerrard being sacked as Villa boss and the Cottagers have gone two games unbeaten and quite frankly have been one of the surprise teams of the season. They are in 9th place with 15 points and just five points from the top four. Overall form has seen them pick up seven points from the last 15 on offer. However the club’s statistics are not so good away from home with just one win and 4 points earned from a possible 15. Their last away game finished in a 3-1 loss against West Ham and the only win they have on the road is against Nottingham Forest who have had many problems themselves this season.

Team News:

Leeds: Adam Forshaw is out with an ankle injury and not expected back until next week. Pascal Struijk has a knock and will be assessed but is being tipped to be fine.

Fulham: Kenny Tete is out with a muscle injury with no fixed return date, Layvin Kurzawa has a calf injury and is out.

Leeds vs Fulham Head to Head:

The last time the clubs played at Leeds was two years ago and we were treated to a seven goal thriller that finished 4-3 to Leeds.

Leeds have won the last 4 meetings in a row.

4 of the last 5 meetings has seen over 2.5 goals.

Leeds vs Fulham Prediction:

We will be backing Leeds to get the points here as we seem to have the simple case of two teams who only perform at home, and Leeds are that side. Fulham have been impressive this season but their away form has been woeful and to add to that the Cottagers have a poor recent record against Leeds.

If Leeds are to stay up they must continue their decent form at home and even though they finally lost at home in their last game here it was against Arsenal and only by 1-0 with Leeds also missing a penalty in that game. Forward Patrick Bamford remains an enigma. He was very good a few seasons ago with his goals, but last season was destroyed by injury and this one so far it’s been all about confidence and one really has to wonder about his immediate future if he’s failing to get the goals. In light of this we will be backing Brenden Aaronson to score, he started brightly and at home can put a good shift in and is a good price to score.
