England Premier League
Saturday 21st August 2021
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Elland Road
Match Preview:
Sometimes Leeds can be the team that keeps on giving and that was certainly the case on the opening weekend of the new Premier League season where Marcelo Bielsa’s side shipped 5 goals at Old Trafford against Manchester United. It means that Leeds have conceded 11 goals in their last two trips up there.
That’s the negative side of this otherwise exciting Leeds side, naivety with not much plan B. But when they click which they should do more at home they can really put on a show and Bielsa will be hoping that his side react in this game.
Playing Everton will be tricky though and the Toffees got an important win last weekend beating Southampton 3-1 after trailing by one goal. It was a significant win and manager Rafa Benitez would dearly love to prove some sections of Everton fans wrong on his appointment. By the end of the weekend it could be two wins from two and that would sit nicely up at Goodison Park.
Team News:
Leeds: The clubs only concern is Diego Llorente who is set to miss this match with a knock.
Everton: James Rodriguez was self isolating and while he might be available for this game it is undecided if the manager will pick him as he could be lacking some match fitness.
Leeds vs Everton Head to Head:
Last season this fixture ended 2-1 to Everton.
From the last 4 meetings Everton have won just once.
3 out of the last 4 meetings have seen both sides to score.
Leeds vs Everton Prediction:
Both teams have the potential to win this one but Everton will come into it with more of a spring in their step having secured a win. Leeds have to try and shrug off conceding 5 goals already which means they are at the foot of the table.
It is very early days but lose this, draw the next match lose again and Leeds would be in a confidence crisis, so they will be determined to pick up points here. But if Rafa’s players can keep their shape and wait for their moments we could see an away victory here. Though it is worth noting that the majority of Leeds fans will be witnessing their team in the top flight for the first time.
