England Premier League
Monday 8th February 2021
Kick off at 8pm GMT
Venue: Elland Road
Match Preview:
Leeds have been very inconsistent but will be safe this year and along the way have played some thrilling football. The club lost their last game 2-1 against Everton and come into this game in 11th place with 29 points. Victory would take Marcelo Bielsa’s team above Arsenal and they would have a game in hand over the Gunners.
You never quite know what to expect from Leeds, forget draws, they have only had 2 this season with 9 wins and 10 defeats. They're the joint 5th team to score the most goals with 36 so far and have scored more goals than West Ham and Everton who are in 5th and 6th place respectively.
Home form has been questionable for Bielsa’s side who have lost 50% of their games and have won just 3 so far. They have also lost their last 2 home matches and have earned just 11 points from a possible 30. They have the fifth poorest home record in the league.
Crystal Palace are in 13th place and have the same points as Leeds and in midweek they went to Newcastle and got an excellent win. Palace have turned some poor form around and have won their last two games. The Eagles have earned 5 points on the road from their last 15 and away form is average to poor having lost 5 games overall from the 11 played.
One of the problems for Roy Hodgson’s side has been the lack of goals on the road with just 13 scored so far, only six other teams have a worse scoring record than that.
Team News:
Leeds: No new injuries for the club but Robin Koch, Adam Forshaw and Diego Llorente are out long term.
Crystal Palace: Wilfried Zaha has a hamstring injury and has been ruled out and could miss the next few weeks. James McArthur will be assessed because he is carrying a knock and is 50/50 to make this match. James Tomkins is out for a few weeks with an eye injury. Joel Ward is 50/50 for this game after his recent knock. Jeffrey Schlupp, Wayne Hennessey and Nathan Ferguson are all out long term.
Leeds vs Crystal Palace Head to Head:
Earlier in the season this game was one way traffic as Crystal Palace beat Leeds 4-1.
The clubs have not played this fixture since 2012 when Leeds won 2-1.
The last 5 meetings have all seen both teams to score.
Leeds vs Crystal Palace Prediction:
Historically there are goals in this match and we could expect to see the same.
The worry for Palace is the amount of injuries that keep piling up and while some players could return it is a body blow to have lost the services of Wilfried Zaha who could well miss the rest of February. Being away from home this will be a tricky game for Palace but then again Leeds have failed to impress at home also.
With Leeds you know what you will get in terms of attacking but overall they are a hard team to predict. Striker Patrick Bamford is a good example of how his club are, one moment brilliant the other invisible and underwhelming.
It is a risk because this isn’t a match where any one club looks the favourite but we will back the home side to get the win. We will also back Bamford to get a goal and go for the market of over goals as we expect a few in what should be an open game.
Leeds vs Crystal Palace Betting Tips:
Leeds to beat Crystal Palace at 1.80
Over 2.5 goals at 1.66
Anytime goalscorer: Patrick Bamford at 1.91
