Leeds vs Brighton: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 11th March 2023
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Elland Road

Match Preview:

It’s 3 losses in their last four games for Leeds but we need to concentrate more on new manager Javi Gracia and it hasn’t been the worst of starts for him with victory over Southampton and then a very narrow 1-0 loss away to Chelsea last weekend.

This game represents a difficult one but for the teams down there struggling home games need to be won. For now Leeds are safe but only just in 17th place on goal difference. The club could climb to 15th with a win or could be bottom by the end of the weekend with a defeat that is how tight it is right now.

Brighton have just one defeat in their last five games and they will have one eye on trying to finish in a European position as they come into this weekend in 8th place with 38 points. Indeed Roberto De Zerbi’s side are only four points behind 5th placed Liverpool. The Seagulls were able to bounce back from a recent defeat to Fulham to overcome West Ham last weekend and they didn’t just overcome the Londoners but thrashed them in a 4-0 victory. Eight points have been collected from their last 15 and the club have been pretty solid up until now, there is the threat of losing some form, but they will need to push on to secure Europe for next season.

On the road De Zerbi’s side has the 5th best record in the Premier League with 18 points won from a possible 33 and they haven’t lost away since October. The Seagulls have drawn their last two games though which came against Leicester and Crystal Palace.

Team News:

Leeds: Patrick Bamford is a doubt with a leg injury and will be assessed. Luis Sinisterra looks like he will miss out again with his ongoing muscle injury. Rodrigo isn’t been pencilled in to return until early next month due to his ankle injury. Adam Forshaw and Stuart Dallas remain sidelined long term.

Brighton: Levi Colwill is nearing a return from fitness issues and could be assessed. Tariq Lamptey has a knock but it isn’t thought to be serious and he should play. Both Adam Lallana and Jakub Moder are set to be out for the remainder of the season.

Leeds vs Brighton Head to Head:

Last season this fixture finished 1-1.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Brighton won 1-0.

Brighton have won 9 of the last 12 meetings .

The last seven meetings in a row have all ended in under 2.5 goals.

Leeds vs Brighton Prediction:

These teams have played each other very frequently over the past decade and the major patterns are that not many goals are scored in the fixture and that Brighton have dominated results. Away games are never easy in the Premier League but you have to respect the fact that Brighton are unbeaten on the road for the past four months and have a solid record over their opponents and they should be starting this game as the favourites.

Leeds are under much more pressure to win this game and for us they haven’t been convincing enough at home not just overall but recently either, even though they did win their last home game it was against Southampton who have been bottom for most of the season. For us this is an away win and Leeds look set to continue their struggle.
