Fulham vs Wolves: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Friday 24th February 2023
Kick off at 8pm GMT
Venue: Craven Cottage

Match Preview:

Pound for pound surely we suggest that Fulham have been the best side in the Premier League so far and it would be an incredible achievement for the Cottagers to qualify for Europe after the last few seasons. Fulham come into this weekend in 6th place and while they cannot move higher up the table even with a win on Friday evening, they would join Newcastle on the same points (41) and would create some breathing space against a plethora of sides chasing them in Brighton, Liverpool and Brentford.

Fulham’s last game ended in a very important 1-0 win away to Brighton and that means that not only have the Cottagers won their last two games, they are unbeaten in their last three. This season cannot be overstated just how strong the club have been, a club that some would have thought would have struggled this season but so good they have been and consistent that Marco Silva’s side have not even conceded a goal in the past month. At home Fulham have won 50% of their games and lost 3 from 12 but recent home form has improved with three wins taken from their last 4.

Wolves have significantly improved under Julen Loptegui but they remain a club who could still get sucked back into a relegation battle and that was underlined last weekend as they lost 1-0 at home to fellow struggler’s Bournemouth. Currently Wolves have 23 points and they are in 15th place but just three points is the difference between their position and the bottom three. A lot can change very quickly as we have seen time and again. Recent form is still good for a club that have struggled with 9 points won from a possible 15 and away from home it’s just one defeat from their past five and that came against the champions Manchester City so would have felt expected. However Wolves away form overall is not good with just 2 wins so far and they have only scored 8 goals on the road. However again their form has improved and indeed their last away game did end in a victory when they beat Southampton 2-1.

Team News:

Fulham: Tom Cairney is out for between 2-3 weeks with an ankle injury, Aleksandar Mitrovic has a knock and will be assessed.

Wolves: Hwang Hee-Chan is sidelined with a hamstring injury and isn’t expected back for another three weeks at least. Boubacar Traore is still out due to a muscle strain and won’t return until next month at the earlisest.

Fulham vs Wolves Head to Head:

The last time the teams met at Fulham Wolves won 1-0.

The last five meetings have all seen under 2.5 goals.

It’s been 6 games since Fulham recorded a win over Wolves.

Fulham vs Wolves Prediction:

Wolves have had the better of results in recent times over Fulham but the games have been very close with usually just one goal in it. Fulham are due a win and who would back against them to get it being at home and with the form they have shown this season? Perhaps a few weeks ago when Lopetegui’s seat was still hot we could have expected this to be much closer but the signs are that Wolves could start to drop more points soon and could have a tough last few months to secure their Premier League status. The home team are a great price and we could have expected them to be close to evens if not odds on being at home and with the overall form they have showed, so they look great value to back with the draw covered on the refund.

At home an evening game has always been a good advantage in football and we don’t see past the Cottagers getting all 3 points. Aleksandar Mitrovic should be ready to play in this game although he will have to be assessed but he should be kept on your radar to score a goal. If he doesn’t make the cut look out for Willian who has returned from injury in good form and looks like he is on a mission to finish the campaign in a positive light, he’s also very good value to get on the score sheet on Friday evening.
