Fulham vs West Ham: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 6th February 2021
Kick off at 5:30pm GMT
Venue: Craven Cottage

Match Preview:

It’s getting desperate for Fulham now who are 8 points from safety after they lost their 11th game of this campaign against Leicester in midweek. Scott Parker’s team fought for the win but went down 2-0.

What hasn’t helped Fulham is Brighton’s great form and the gap has just increased very quickly, but Fulham can’t rely on other teams to drop points and have earned just 2 from their last 15. At home the Cottagers have won just once this season and have lost their last 3 at Craven Cottage. They aren’t conceding many goals but are not scoring many either with just seven converted at home so far.

West Ham are experiencing one of their best seasons in a generation and come into this game in 5th place with 38 points. The Hammers are only 2 points shy of a Champions League place and have won 11 games (50%) overall. Last season the Hammers amassed 39 points in total and a draw at the weekend would equal that points haul with 15 games left to play.

Observers are still waiting for the hammer to fall (pardon the pun) only because past West Ham teams have impressed at times only to fall at the desired hurdle and then fade away, but for now the club deserves a lot of credit. In their last game West Ham beat Aston Villa away 3-1 and new signing Jesse Lingard made an immediate impact scoring two goals to help them on their win.

There’s a great vibe at West Ham and the club have picked up 12 points from their last 15 on offer. On form the Hammers would be only 2nd to Manchester City and it will be fascinating to see how far the club can go. On the road the club have won six games from 11 and have won their last 3.

Team News:

Fulham: There’s been no update on Tom Cairney who has a knee injury so he should be presumed ruled out. Terence Kongolo (hamstring) is still out.

West Ham: There’s no new injuries for the club but Darren Randolph has missed the last few games due to a knock and has been pencilled in to return for this one.

Fulham vs West Ham Head to Head:

The last time the clubs played this fixture was back in 2018 when West Ham won 2-0.

West Ham have won the last 3 league meetings in a row against Fulham.

There is a 60% chance to see both teams to score.

It’s been 17 games going back to 2006 since the clubs drew 0-0.

Fulham vs West Ham Prediction:

Looking at form and how West Ham have dominated this fixture in recent times one can conclude this should be an away victory. However Fulham will be fighting for everything here and it is a London derby.

West Ham should be able to take advantage of gaps appearing as Fulham can’t sit back and defend, and for the Hammers with the players they have who are buzzing in this moment like Lingard and Michail Antonio, this game looks perfectly poised for an away win. In reality though it could be much closer than many people will think.

We will back the team in form who are achieving new heights this season in their quest to finish in one of their highest positions for years.
