Match Preview:
Much like Brighton one had to wonder if this season would be seen as two given that a World Cup had been set in between for the first time. It meant that teams such as Fulham and Brighton who had a strong showing in the first half of the season were seen as teams who may fail in the second half but neither club has been reading the script and both have shone this season. Fulham have dipped recently after losing back to back games against Newcastle and Tottenham but they earned an impressive away point by keeping Chelsea and their new plethora of signings at bay in their last game as that ended 0-0.
Marco Silva’s side come into this weekend in 8th place with 32 points and have a real chance of finishing in a European spot. Six points have been won from their last 9 at home and they have won 5 and lost 3 here and they will start as the favourites.
Nottingham Forest are in form and are moving up the table and this season was always about remaining in the Premier League. Steve Cooper’s side are now in 13th place and while they are not out of the woods yet there has been plenty of positive signs and they are six points from the bottom three. But it is their form which has been encouraging and they are unbeaten in the league this year.
Forest’s latest result was a 1-0 win over Leeds which resulted in Jesse Marsch losing his job and the club have won 11 points from their last 15 including 3 wins from their last four. On the road tells a different picture and in fact Forest have the second to worst record with just 6 points won from a possible 30. However after beating Southampton and drawing with Bournemouth, Forest have at least gone their last two games unbeaten away. The worry remains though that Steve Cooper’s side are not scoring enough goals away from home with just 3 converted from their 10 games, this is by far the worst record in the Premier League.
Team News:
Fulham: Harrison Reed has a knee injury but it isn’t thought to be serious and he will be assessed. Neeskens Kebano is out long term with his Achilles.
Nottingham Forest: Jonjo Shelvey could be assessed ahead of the game following fitness issues. Ryan Yates looks set to miss out due to illness. Omar Richards has now been ruled out for the season with a leg injury. Dean Henderson is still sidelined with his thigh but could return next week. Chiekhou Kouyate is not due back until next month with his hamstring.
Fulham vs Nottm Forest Head to Head:
The last time the teams played here was last year but in the Championship and Nottingham Forest won 1-0.
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Fulham won 3-2.
There is a 60% chance to see both teams to score.
Fulham vs Nottm Forest Prediction:
This has been an interesting fixture given that the last 5 meetings have witnessed the away team winning. With that in mind but also Forest’s good form we think a safe choice could be backing them on the double chance covering an away win but also a possible draw.
Fulham are a strong side but they have received a few losses lately and forward Mitrovic’s goals have slightly dried up. Forest simply have this huge squad of players and while they can look disjointed at times they have made choices which could ultimately keep them up. This game on the face of it won’t be an easy one to navigate for Steve Cooper’s side but there are goals in them and we think this is a team that can adapt more than the Cottagers in short one that has a plan B and we will be backing Forest to get something, the market is very open with a lot of value.
