England Premier League
Monday 8th May 2023
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Craven Cottage
Match Preview:
Fulham won’t qualify for Europe this year but at the same time they are very much safe and simply come into this game to play for a victory in front of their home fans. Recent form has meant the end to the clubs European ambitions as they have lost their last three and have 45 points. The Cottagers of course would love to be able to finish in the top half of the table and they are currently in 10th place but with Chelsea winning at the weekend that is under threat and the Blues have closed the gap to just three points.
At home Marco Silva’s side have won seven games but lost six and have collected 25 points from a possible 51. Recent home form has been poor for the club though with 3 defeats in their last four games and just four points earned from their last 15. The club were last beaten here by Manchester City although that was a fairly close encounter that only ended in a 2-1 defeat.
While Fulham have no pressure coming into this game Leicester have it all to do. The Foxes could still realistically be relegated, even though they are in 16th place and that’s because only one point separates them from the bottom three. However there have been encouraging signs from the club who come here unbeaten in their last three games after a victory over Wolves and they have drawn their last two against Leeds and Everton, two clubs who are fighting with them for survival. Away from home the Foxes have lost 11 games from 17 and earned just 2 points from their last 15, and that isn’t boding very well for this fixture.
Team News:
Fulham: There are no new injuries for the Cottagers however Andreas Pereira and Tim Ream have been confirmed to be out for the season.
Leicster: Ryan Bertrand could be assessed after a lengthy spell out and he seems to have overcome his fitness issues too. Jonny Evans is set to return after fitness issues. Ricardo Pereira will be assessed but is being tipped to return. Kelechi Iheanacho may well miss the rest of the season with a groin injury.
Fulham vs Leicester Head to Head:
Last time the clubs played here in 2021 Leicester won 2-0.
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Fulham won 1-0.
There is a 70% chance to see both teams to score.
Fulham vs Leicester Prediction:
We have mentioned the word huge on many match previews but that’s par for the course when talking about season ending crunching ties. From the top to the bottom there have been plenty of them and it is set to continue throughout the month. And this is another huge game, less so for Fulham and more for Leicester who would take a giant stride in trying to stay up because Leeds lost at the weekend and the Foxes could go 3 points clear of them.
This should be a close game but of course there is pressure on Leicester to come forward and risk more. Their away form has not been up to scratch while Fulham have been poor in the last month, we think the best choice here is to see a draw but to add some value perhaps back the double chance on the Foxes.
