England Premier League
Saturday 22nd April 2023
Kick off at 12:30pm BST
Venue: Craven Cottage
Match Preview:
After losing 4 straight games and sinking down the Premier League table Fulham got back to winning ways last weekend as they beat Everton 3-1 away from home. Incredibly it was only the clubs second ever win at Goodison Park but it is also their second successive win there too. This means that with 8 games to go the Cottagers are in 10th place with 42 points and European qualification for next season isn’t ruled out just yet. Marco Silva’s team have slipped behind though and would need to find some of their consistency from earlier in the season to have a chance but who would have guessed that the club would be in front of their more illustrous and bigger spending neighbours Chelsea in April- but they are to the tune of 3 points.
Leeds might just be happy not to be playing at home as the pressure mounts on the club for Premier League survival. They have shipped 11 goals in their last two games at home after a 5-1 defeat against Crystal Palace and then Liverpool rocked up to smash six goals past Javi Gracia’s side. This has left Leeds in 16th place with 29 points and they are just two points away from the bottom three. Recent form has not been encouraging for the side who have lost 3 of their last four. On the road so far for Leeds it’s 10 losses from 15 with just two wins although one of those came just a few weeks ago as they beat Wolves 4-2. But overall Leeds away form is not good and they are currently conceding 2 goals per game on the road.
Team News:
Fulham: Daniel James cannot face his parent club, Aleksandar Mitrovic is serving an 8 game ban and is not due back for another 3 weeks. Neeskens Kebano is set to miss out again due to a lack of match fitness. Layvin Kurzawa is out with a knee injury.
Leeds: Patrick Bamford has a calf injury and is a doubt for this game but he will be assessed. Stuart Dallas and Tyler Adams remain sidelined long term.
Fulham vs Leeds Head to Head:
The clubs played in this fixture less than 2 months ago in the FA Cup and Fulham won 2-0.
Leeds have won 4 of the last six meetings.
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Fulham won 3-2.
Fulham vs Leeds Prediction:
In recent games Fulham have struggled against Leeds however in their last two meetings Fulham have got the better of them. This is an interesting game because we don't know if Fulham’s win over Eveton a blip or will it kickstart their revival after a very strong first half to the season. For Leeds they look like the whipping boys presently but in both of their recent huge defeats they have played some good football and were actually in with a chance until they collapsed in the second half. As mentioned above, Leeds will be happy to travel away for this one and try to wipe the slate clean and focus. Fulham can be beaten and this would be a huge three points for Leeds. Away form overall has not been good but there has also been signs of improvement. Leeds as a team have been able to play better football in the last month despite some terrible results but Fulham look a good price considering their home advantage, so we will back the home side.
