Fulham vs Leeds: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Friday 19th March 2021
Kick off at 8pm GMT
Venue: Craven Cottage

Match Preview:

There are only a handful of Premier League games this weekend and we kick off on Friday evening as Fulham take on Leeds.

Fulham are in 18th but have in recent months put up a fight to survive this season and are just two points behind 17th placed Newcastle and three points behind Brighton. The club’s chances took a blow last weekend as they lost 3-0 against Manchester City. That game was 0-0 at half time and there looked like a whiff of a surprise result against the best team in the league but it wasn’t to be.

Still the Cottagers have earned 7 points from their last five games and back at home they will focus on earning something at the weekend. The problem for them is they have recorded just two victories at Craven Cottage this season and have, in fact, the worst home record in the Premier League.

Leeds recent form has not been good so it was a surprise that they forced a 0-0 draw against high flying and very much in form Chelsea last weekend. Indeed Leeds had many chances to win the game in the end and if the club play like this on Friday they should have few problems in winning this game. However Leeds have blown hot and cold but the club now with 36 points will feel that they are safe for this season heading into this game.

However it is just 1 win for the club in their last five and perhaps what has been worrying for such a free scoring and attacking team is that they have failed to score for their last 3 games. Away form is poor with 8 defeats so far and that includes losing their last three. Leeds last defeat on the road came against West Ham in a game that they lost 2-0.

Team News:

Fulham: Bobby Reid has a knock but is expected to be fine for this game. Marek Rodak looks like he won’t be back until after the international break with a hand issue.

Leeds: Patrick Bamford has a slight hip injury but in an update on his condition is expected to be ready and fit for this game. Liam Cooper is ill and is almost a certainty to miss this game. Leif Davis has a muscle injury and will be assessed but is being tipped to be fine. Pablo Hernandez is out with a muscle injury. Rodrigo also has a muscle injury but will face a late assessment to see if he can play.

Fulham vs Leeds Head to Head:

Earlier this season the clubs played out a seven goal thriller as Leeds beat Fulham 4-3.

The last time the clubs played at Fulham was in 2019 in the Championship and the home side won 2-1.

Leeds haven’t beaten Fulham away from home since 2015.

The last 3 meetings have seen over 2.5 goals.

Fulham vs Leeds Prediction:

Fulham have made great strides to try and avoid being relegated but they will be well aware that the gap to safety increased to 2 points over a week. This is why we do not expect to see 7 goals in this fixture like we witnessed earlier in the season. Fulham need to be cautious and try to contain a Leeds side that come here with some freedom and may take risks.

Leeds do have a number of players who have been out injured who may return for this game but that is touch and go and if a few do miss out then it is advantage Fulham. This really is a game that could go either way but we will back the home side to get at least a point. At least we have seen desire from Fulham and enough of that to feel confident that they can get a result in this game. The recent games they have lost have been against Manchester City and Tottenham and that would be expected. They will be hopefully ready to bounce back for this match.
