Fulham vs Everton: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Tuesday 30th January 2024
Kick off at 7:45pm GMT
Venue: Craven Cottage

Match Preview:

Fulham are in 13th place and with 24 points they are looking safe for now but it must be a real concern to see their latest form where Marco Silva’s side have earned just 3 points from their last 15 on offer. That losing feeling continued in their fourth round FA Cup tie as they were knocked out by Newcastle losing that match 2-0. Three days before that the Cottagers were also knocked out of the EFL Cup at the semi-final stage after they drew 1-1 in their 2nd leg match against Liverpool but lost 3-2 on aggregate. It is fair to say that it’s been a bad week for Silva’s team. Their season is in theory over but at the same time they will need to chalk up a few wins to start to feel safe although they do have an 8 point gap to the bottom three.

The majority of Fulham’s points have come at home with 18 from their total haul of 24 and even though recent overall form has been poor the same cannot be said of their home form. The Cottagers have won 4 of their last 5 games here and boast a 60% win rate. The clubs last home league game ended in a terrific 2-1 win over Arsenal so they should be a team to be wary of for the travelling side.

Everton were knocked out of the FA Cup at home to Luton after losing to a last minute goal in a game that finished 2-1 to the Hatters. Being at home this has to be seen as a poor result for Sean Dyche’s side. In the league these look like worrying times for the Toffees who have no wins in their last 4 games although in their latest match they were able to draw 0-0 at home to high flying Aston Villa. Relegation remains a real threat for the club and they are in 17th place but just one point ahead of Luton in 18th. The good news for Dyche’s side is that if Nottingham Forest were to lose on the same day and Everton won here the Toffees would go above them and into 16th place.

Fulham vs Everton Prediction:

Marco Silva needs to rally his troops around because it would be easy to start feeling sorry for themselves after being knocked out of two cup competitions in a matter of three days. The club has an advantage in the fact that they have had the better of a side in recent years that they used to struggle against. Form has not been good for Fulham but at home they have been hard to beat lately and will be a tough task for Everton to do so.

Everton will be sorely missing the services of Doucoure in midfield and there is a worry that the club could be getting themselves in poor form and on a bad run. Victory here would quash that, but this is a tough away fixture and we believe Everton could be left waiting for their first league win this year. Expect a physical game and a close one and if the home side can score first that could deal the killer blow they need to get past their opponents. Raul Jimenez is a terrific price to find the net given Everton’s leaky defence and that his team are at home and that should be taken on.
