Fulham vs Everton: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 29th October 2022
Kick off at 5:30pm BST
Venue: Craven Cottage

Match Preview:

Fulham have had bumps in the road this season, that is to be expected but overall they have had a brilliant start by their standards and not many would have believed that they would be above Liverpool and in seventh place as we approach November. It’s a job well done so far.

The Cottagers are unbeaten in their last 3 games and have won their last two in a row beating Aston Villa and Leeds. In those two wins they scored 6 goals and already it feels like they won’t be in a relegation battle this season, scoring goals even if you lose or draw a game is usually a good indictaor that the future will be bright. With Manchester United playing a day later Fulham could go past them with a win here. At home they have won 50% of their games with just one loss so far which came against Newcastle.

Everton got back to winning ways last weekend and they needed it after losing their previous three. It was a great result for the club though as they beat Crystal Palace 3-0, a win and a clean sheet is the perfect tonic for a club who some say could still struggle this season. Everton are up to 12th place and they trail their hosts by five points. Frank Lampard’s side have traditionally struggled on the road and to be fair this wasn’t just under the former Chelsea legend. It’s just one win so far away from home and 5 points earned from a possible 18. The Toffees have lost their last two on the road although they were tough fixtures against Tottenham and Newcastle respectively.

Team News:

Fulham: Layvin Kurzawa is out with his calf, Kenny Tete is sidelined with a muscle injury and Manor Soloman is out long term with his knee.

Everton: There are no new injuries for Everton but Yerry Mina (calf), Ben Godfrey (leg) and Andros Townsend (knee) look set to be all out until after the World Cup.

Fulham vs Everton Head to Head:

The clubs haven’t played here in two years and last time out Everton won 3-2.

Everton have won 4 of the last six meetings and in the last 13 meetings there has only been 1 draw.

There is a 70% chance to see over 2.5 goals.

Fulham vs Everton Prediction:

This is a fascinating game because we know that Fulham have improved ten fold and that they can score goals and be dangerous at home. But they will come up against a rigid defence that has the excellent Nathan Patterson back. Over the years Everton have usually enjoyed success over Fulham with the odd poor result and if the Toffees can put in an assured performance they could well get something out of this game. We have seen that the Cottagers can raise their game against quality teams and while Everton are a decent team, after last season they are still climbing up a long ladder and that makes them unpredictable and not easy to play against.

Frank Lampard’s team have been well drilled this season and will not be easy to beat and they won’t be afraid to let the home side have the ball but at the same time break forward. It may even feel like a surprise to believe that the away side could win this one given how impressive Fulham have been this season but we are going to back the Toffees to get at least a draw from this game.
