Fulham vs Cardiff: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 27th April 2019
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Craven Cottage

Match Preview:

We have a fascinating game at the weekend in the Premier League when Fulham who are already relegated will take on Cardiff who desperately need the points, indeed any dropped here and relegation looks a certainty.

If relegation was supposed to slow down The Cottagers it seems to have worked the other way, and since knowing they are down they have won back to back games, beating Everton and Bournemouth.

This is something that Cardiff will be weary of if they were expecting some favours. Fulham have won just 5 times at home this season but they look like a team free of their burdens now and are playing with a relaxed but professional attitude.

Cardiff are 3 points behind Brighton but in theory that is 4 points because of the goal difference. Last weekend they lost against Liverpool 2-0 and the reality is that The Bluebirds have just 1 win in their past five games which incidently came against Brighton.

Away from home has been a real punisher for the club with just 3 wins all season and they have the joint worse record for goals on the road with 11 all season.

Team News:

Fulham: Alfie Mawson is set to return after a lack of match fitness following his injury. Andre Schurrle is a doubt as his wife is due to give birth, and may miss this game

Cardiff: Harry Arter is 50/50 to make this game after his calf injury but will be assessed just in case. Joe Ralls has been ruled out for the rest of the season after his hamstring injury against Liverpool

Fulham vs Cardiff Head to Head:

In the reverse fixture Cardiff beat Fulham 4-2.

The last time the teams played at Fulham was in 2017 when the match ended 1-1.

From the last 5 meetings that have taken place at Fulham they have just 1 win.

The last 8 meetings between the teams have a 100% success rate to see both teams to score.

Fulham vs Cardiff Prediction:

A few weeks ago Cardiff were away to Brighton and beat them 2-0 and that match gave Cardiff a lifeline. This is another game that feels like that and no matter what Brighton do this weekend Cardiff need to win. Neil Warnock who looks like he has been infuriated for most of his footballing career will erupt if his Cardiff side fail to get a win against a team who are playing for nothing. We are taking the risk that the motivation is fully resting with Cardiff and that they will get something from this game in what should be a very close match.
