England Premier League
Saturday 15th October 2022
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Craven Cottage
Match Preview:
For now one would have to say that Scott Parker’s early season sacking was a blessing in disguise as interim manager Gary O’Neil has done a superb job since. The club followed up Parker’s dismissal after a 9-0 smashing at Liverpool to go 5 games unbeaten, and it has been an amazing turnaround for the club.
The Cherries latest victims were Leicester who had just won their first game of the season and had gone a goal up, however they came back to beat the Foxes 2-1 and have climbed up to 8th place with 12 points and for now look well on their way to survival which would have been the only objective at the start of the season. Away from home it’s just the one win so far and four of their 12 points have come this way, but they are unbeaten in their last two games.
Fulham have also started the season well by their standards and a win here would see them go past the visitors as they are just a point behind. While the Cottagers have pulled off some impressive results their recent form has not been good with 3 defeats from their last four. Last weekend despite taking the lead they lost 3-1 at West Ham and that followed 4-1 beating at home to Newcastle. At home it’s just one loss so far which came against the Magpies but they are scoring goals in front of their home fans and are averaging 2 a game so far.
Team News:
Fulham: Nathaniel Chalobah is suspended and still serving his 3 game ban, Aleksandar Mitrovic has returned to training following his foot injury and could play though will be assessed first. Layvin Kurzawa is out with a calf injury as is Willian. Kenny Tete will be assessed after his knock and Manor Soloman is out long term with his knee.
Bournemouth: Ben Pearson and Joe Rothwell will be assessed because of fitness issues. Junior Stanislas is only 50/50 to make this game following a muscle injury. David Brooks is out with his hamstring.
Fulham vs Bournemouth Head to Head:
Fulham has just one win over Bournemouth in the last 10 meetings and it’s been 30 years since the Cottagers won at home to them.
Last season in the Championship this fixture finished 1-1, indeed both games from last term ended in draws.
The last 3 meetings have all been under 2.5 goals.
Fulham vs Bournemouth Prediction:
It would be tempting to place Bournemouth as the favourites to win this game given their recent form but they face a tricky side in Fulham and there should be caution away from home. Just how long can Gary O’Neil’s keep up the good form and maybe at the back of his mind he will be wondering how his side react when they do lose. For now the club look solid and trustworthy at home but playing away in the top league does have its pitfulls and Fulham will be looking to get back on track.
A lot does depend on the fitness of Aleksandar Mitrovic who has scored goals already this season and will be hungry for more. He is a slight doubt for the game, so check team news ahead of kick off but we will pick him to get a goal at the weekend. We expect a close game and a low scoring one too but Fulham need to bring their A game to this one because the fear is they are about to run into very poor form without the taste of a victory soon, this game will tell us a lot about the current state of affairs at the club.
Fulham vs Bournemouth Betting Tips:
Fulham to beat Bournemouth at 1.80
Anytime goalscorer: Aleksandar Mitrovic at 1.91
