England Premier League
Saturday 17th February 2024
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Craven Cottage
Match Preview:
Fulham will be looking to extend their unbeaten streak to four games but they will face one of the best sides in the league this season to do so. The Cottagers are in 12th place with 29 points and in their last game beat Bournemouth 3-1, they have had some mixed results lately but have only lost one game from their last five and that defeat was a derby one against Chelsea. With victory it is unlikely Marco Silva’s side can move up a place because of goal difference but it would be a big scalp to win this game and another progress forward. Home form has been one of the better ones in the league with an impressive 7 wins from 12 games and they would rank in 8th place based on home form alone. The club have also won 3 of their last five games here and that even includes beating Arsenal a few weeks back.
Aston Villa have had a superb season and not many would have believed that Unai Emery’s side would be in 5th place by February and just a single point from fourth place. Perhaps there are some worrying signs and possible fatigue for the club though who have won just once in their past four games. Recent results have witnessed a home defeat against Manchester United and another one against Newcastle and they were knocked out of the FA Cup also at home to Newcastle. However in between they have managed to smash Sheffield United 5-0 and while home form has suffered perhaps the club could pick up form on the road. Currently Villa lead sixth placed Manchester United by five points so Villa can’t drop a position but they will need to keep up their form and not have their season cave in after such a strong first half to it.

Fulham vs Aston Villa Prediction:
This game looks set up as an entertaining one. Both clubs are playing good attacking positive football with managers that think of good play and attack. Fulham have had their ups and downs but have been in general strong at home and the players will feel that they can give their visitors plenty of problems. Aston Villa have had problems of late and their form has been knocked but this has been at home and on the road the players may feel a little more freedom as the pressure mounts at Villa Park after such a superb unbeaten record has been evaporated and quickly.
This is a fixture that produces goals and we can see a few here. This game should be full on and flowing with lots of attacking chances for both sides, the value is with the home side and we think Fulham at this moment in time has the quality to dent Villa’s top four hopes.
