Venue: Goodison Park
Match Preview:
Everton achieved a point away and a clean sheet in midweek against Fulham and that has to be seen as a good result, however it wasn’t enough to see the Toffees stay out of the bottom three. Luton’s impressive run of form lately has heaped pressure onto Sean Dyche’s side who haven’t won a league game in almost 2 months. The club have drawn their last two games with both ending 0-0 and yet again Jordan Pickford has been world class in goal and has saved his side literally.
At home Everton only has a 30% win rate and they have lost 6 of their 11 games so far. However, back in December let’s not forget both Chelsea and Newcastle were beaten here and there is a feeling that the club have lost some of that winning momentum they were able to show back then, Dyche has the task in hand to install the belief back into his players. Off the field Everton’s lawyers are currently involved in an appeal for the deduction of 10 points and that may well be playing on everyone’s minds- an answer is due by the middle of this month.
Tottenham needed to win in midweek but it ended up being a close run thing as they finally did win 3-2 in an entertaining victory over Brentford. Because of goal difference the win has put Tottenham past Aston Villa and into 4th place and they have 43 points. The club remains 8 points behind the league leaders Liverpool but if they were to qualify for the next season's Champions League surely that would represent some kind of success for them. Recent form has seen 3 wins from 5 and yet there has been no consistency with a break up of results in between including the 4-2 loss to Brighton and the 2-2 draw against Manchester United. However results in general have been impressive given that the club are missing some key players due to international duty. Away from home Tottenham have won 5 from 11 and lost just twice however they have gone their last two trips without a win, with their latest one occurring six weeks ago when they beat Nottingham Forest.
Team News:
Everton: Amadou Onana has a knee injury although it isn’t thought to be too serious and he will be assessed for this game. Seamus Coleman has a lack of match fitness and is only 50/50 to be ready for this game. Arnaut Danjuma has picked up an ankle injury but the extent of it isn’t fully known but he looks set to miss out at the weekend. Abdoulaye Doucoure remains out with a hamstring injury but could possibly return next week. Andre Gomes and Dele Alli are both out with no fixed return date.
Tottenham: Yves Bissouma, Heung Min-Son and Pape Sarr are all on international duty. Alejo Veliz is not due back for a month due to a knee injury. Ryan Sessegnon and Manor Soloman remain out with no fixed return dates. Giovanni Lo Celso is still out due to a muscle injury and isn’t expected back any time soon.

Everton vs Tottenham Prediction:
Once again Everton are not winning games and their home form is hardly anything to get excited about. The big story here will see Richarlison return to Goodison Park too and he seems to be hitting some form and the home fans will hope that the Brazilian will have an off day. Tottenham are not at their best but remain a threat and Everton will need to be weary. The problem for Sean Dyche is that Manchester City away are up next and one will wonder if he will set up his team to go all out for victory in this game. The bottom line is that Everton need the points.
Tottenham have had the better of Everton in recent games but we have seen a fair few draws also. Considering the gulf in quality, to be able to cover the draw whilst backing Tottenham shouldn't be overlooked.
