Everton vs Man Utd: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 21st April 2019
Kick off at 1.30pm BST
Venue: Goodison Park

Match Preview:

Everton have been able to change their form around in the past 6 weeks and by beating the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea and drawing against Liverpool, this has saved manager Marco Silva’s job. However the club put in a poor shift last weekend when they lost to the already relegated Fulham and will want to bounce back for this game.

The Toffemen still have a realistic chance to finish in 7th and claim the best of the rest spot, and at home they are unbeaten in their last 3 games.

Manchester United’s form has suffered in the past month and it hasn’t been an easy time for Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer, this includes dropping points in the league, being knocked out of the FA Cup, and last week losing to Barcelona 3-0 in the Champions League and 4-0 on aggregate.

There is still plenty of work to be done at United which is quite evident. Their top 4 hopes have taken a slight dent but they could go a long way to rectifying that with a win on Sunday. They are just 2 points from 4th, but that position could become difficult if they drop points at Goodison Park.

Team News:

Everton: Andre Gomes is suspended for 3 games after his red card and will miss this match. Yerry Mina should be back at the end of the month but is set to miss this game after his hamstring injury

Manchester United: Eric Bailly is 50/50 to feature after his head injury a few weeks back but will be assessed. Ander Herrera has a good chance to return after his muscle injury. Luke Shaw is suspended and will miss this game after picking up 10 yellow cards.

Everton vs Man Utd Head to Head:

Earlier this season in the reverse fixture Manchester United beat Everton 2-1.

Last season this fixture ended 2-0 to Manchester United.

Everton have not beaten Manchester United since 2015, 8 games ago.

Everton vs Man Utd Prediction:

Manchester United have the side to cause Everton problems, but United have rarely used their superiority this season to inflict damage on so called weaker clubs. There are only a handful of times we have seen this. The worry for Solskjaer is that the team seem used to him now and the honeymoon period is over. He has also hinted at a clearout and those players will know who they are. United don’t want to be facing a team as disciplined as Everton especially away from home at the moment. Everton can get something from this game and we will back them to win on the handicap. We have to respect Everton’s latest form at home at the same time we have to respect that there is much more on the line for United to win this game.
