Everton vs Man City: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 14th May 2023
Kick off at 2pm BST
Venue: Goodison Park

Match Preview:

When relegation is still a possibility with 3 games left to play you don’t want to be playing Manchester City but that is how the cards have fallen for Everton and it will be fascinating to see how they deal with the champions and the club in 1st place.

Everton will be the underdogs but the club will be encouraged by recent results and performances. A 2-2 draw away to Leicester was followed up by a fantastic 5-1 win away to Brighton and it hasn’t just been the results that have been surprising but the performances too, Everton have been playing great football and scoring goals and that has to bode well as the club try to survive in the league for the second successive season. Results have improved for the Toffees with just one loss in their last four games and after a slow start under Sean Dyche there might be signs that the club are heading in the right direction.

Manchester City are in 1st place but have just a one point advantage over Arsenal although they also have a game in hand. For City the pressure is on as they also have their crucial 2nd leg Champions League match with Real Madrid next week but when you’re in the hat to win the treble then games are going to come thick and fast. Form has been superb for City who have won their last 10 games and they don’t look like slowing down. City’s last game ended in a 2-1 victory over Leeds and their last away game also ended in 2-1 with a win over Fulham so games have been closer recently and that is probably a reflection of having to focus on European football. City have also won their last 4 games away from home and the 2nd best away record in the league.

Team News:

Everton: There are no new injuries for the club but Ruben Vinagre (Achilles) and Ben Godfrey (groin) remain out. Seamus Coleman is out for the season with his knee and Andros Townsend remains sidelined with fitness issues.

Manchester City: Nathan Ake will be assessed for a hamstring but is making good progress he is the only injury concern for the club.

Everton vs Man City Head to Head:

Everton haven’t beaten Manchester City for six years

Last season Manchester City won this fixture 1-0.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture the game finished 1-1.

There is a 60% chance to see over 2.5 goals.

Everton vs Man City Prediction:

Pep Guardiola cannot really afford to drop his key players for this game to think about Real Madrid with the league title still on the line and his side will be trying to start this game quick and quieten the home fans. Everton have a huge ask on their hands as technically they will find this game difficult. However being at home is a great advantage and the way the players have applied themselves in the last two games one has to wonder if Dyche’s side have anything to worry about. They will fight for everything and show the passion and perhaps they can upset the champions. A win may feel like a stretch but the last few games have been very close and of course the club were able to draw at the Etihad stadium, it might be good value therefore to back Everton on the handicap.

Watch out for Dominic Calvert-Lewin who has been looking sharp and could be a real threat in front of goal. All eyes of course will be on Erling Haaland to see if he can further his goalscoring records and he will be favoured to do so. City of course with the form they are on should win this game but of course the Madrid game will be on their minds, expect quite a fiery clash at Goodison Park.

Everton vs Man City Betting Tips:
