Everton vs Leicester: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Tuesday 1st January 2019
Kick off at 12.30pm GMT
Venue: Goodison Park

Match Preview:

Everton come into this game in very poor form. While the club are in 10th position, if we take their last five games they would be in 17th. Last weekend they went to Brighton and lost 1-0 which was their 7th loss of the season. They have had a poor run of results once we take out their 5-1 win over Burnley who have had a very poor season. On New Year’s Day they will return to Goodsion Park and will want to start 2019 with three points.

At home their record is decent having won 18 points from their last 30 on offer. No fan will want to remember the last match which ended in a 6-2 thrashing against Tottenham. However Everton will really have to be focused for this game as Leicester have found decent form themselves.

The Foxes remain an enigma. For two games in a row they were able to beat Chelsea and Manchester City but then last weekend they lost to the relegation threatened Cardiff and did so at home. It feels almost as if Leicester raise their game when everything is against them but can’t seem to play half as well against teams they are supposed to beat or teams that are near them in the league.

Claude Puel’s team have picked up the same amount of points away from home as at home and have decent form having lost just 1 game on the road from their past five.

Team News:

Everton: The Toffee men have no new major injuries coming into this game

Leicester: Jonny Evans should be back after missing the Cardiff defeat with illness. Wes Morgan had the same problem

Everton vs Leicester Head to Head:

Everton have won the last two meetings and by the same score line of 2-1.

Leicester have beaten Everton at Goodision Park 2 times from the past 4 meetings.

Leicester have just one victory over Everton in the last four meetings.

Everton vs Leicester Prediction:

This game is set to be a very close one and if either team wins would it be seen as a shock? Everton need it more in terms of manager Marco Silva’s job and the pressure that is now being thrust upon him. His win rate for the club is under 40% now, plus they are at home. Leicester remain very unpredictable, and history suggest both teams will score in this game, so we will opt for that instead of picking a winner. Everton have a decent month of fixtures coming up where they won’t play any teams above them and so they need to be motivated to try and get maximum points this month starting with this game.

Everton vs Leicester Betting Tips:

Both teams to score (Yes) at 1.75

Correct Score: Everton to win 2-1 at 9.00, or 1-1 draw at 7.00
