Everton vs Leeds: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 12th February 2022
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Goodison Park

Match Preview:

Everton have had to play their two direct rivals in a row with the Newcastle game in midweek and now the Leeds game at the weekend. New manager Frank Lampard has been thrown in at the deep end but you sense that he is relishing this and will do everything to keep Everton safe.

Everton return home where they were extremely poor last season and have been this season too. Despite their 4 wins here we must remember they have lost 50% of their games in front of their home fans and that is simply not good enough. The clubs last home league game was Duncan Ferguson’s last as caretaker manager as the Toffee’s lost 1-0 against Aston Villa in what felt like a must win game.

Still there are good memories here from their last game at home which was in the 4th round of the FA Cup. Everton played Brentford and in Lampard’s first managerial game for the Toffee’s they made it stick and beat the Bees 4-1. It was a great and confident performance and they will be hoping to score a few this weekend and get 3 huge points.

Leeds are not out of the woods and remain in trouble and in part this feels like second season syndrome. However the club have been really unlucky with injuries too. Striker Patrick Bamford who scored many goals last season has missed the bulk of the season with two different injuries and reportedly his latest one was his own fault when he celebrated a little too much coming back to the team and scoring. It’s been a long, hard and miserable season for the club but if they finished in 17th place it won’t matter one bit in the end.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have lost 50% of their games away from home although they did recently beat West Ham. But from their first possible 30 points the club only won 9 on the road. Like Everton it will only take two good games in a row to see a significant change and move away from the bottom three so in that sense these two sides are in the same boat.

Team News:

Everton: Fabian Delph and Abdoulaye Doucoure are out for another 3-4 weeks with their respective thigh and groin injuries. Ben Godfrey is out with his hamstring until March, and Yerry Mina is out for 8-10 weeks.

Leeds: Patrick Bamford is out with his foot injury, Liam Cooper and Sam Greenwood are not expected back until next month. Kalvin Phillips remains sidelined with a hamstring injury and is still another 2-3 weeks away from a return.

Everton vs Leeds Head to Head:

Last season Leeds won this fixture 1-0.

4 from the last five games has seen both teams to score.

From the last 9 meetings Leeds have only beaten Everton twice.

Everton vs Leeds Prediction:

Games aren’t always going to be easy for Everton and this game is likely to be no different. There are key players out for both sides, however Everton losing Yerry Mina is a masive blow and will surely have affected their confidence.

We feel there could well be goals in this game, especially with Everton's vulnerable looking defence. We will also back the away team to get at least a draw, as they seem to be showing more fight in recent games, and when in a relegation battle, the team with the most fight will often come out on top.

Everton vs Leeds Betting Tips:
