Everton vs Crystal Palace: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 21st October 2018
Kick off at 4pm BST
Venue: Goodison Park

Match Preview:

Everton will be looking to win their 3rd game in a row when they take on Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.

There has been a lot of change with the Toffee men over the past few months, which has seen a new manager in Marco Silva and some astute signings, it’s taken a few weeks to gel but Everton are now responding to Silva’s approach and have found form. It will be important that they can maintain this when they take on a side that they will be expected to beat.

At Goodison Everton have won 2, lost 1 and drawn 1. A win would almost certainly propel the team into the top half of the league and would be a major boost to the players.

Crystal Palace are in 14th place and 5 points adrift of their hosts. Whilst Palace have played some good football this season the feeling is that they are going to get sucked into a relegation dog fight and they come into this game having lost back to back matches. Away from home they have won 2 and lost 2.

Team News:

Everton: Seamus Coleman has a niggling foot injury and it is unsure if he will be able to make the squad after a few delays. Idrissa Gueye will be assessed ahead of this game after an ankle injury. Phil Jagielka is likely to be available after missing a month because of a knee injury

Crystal Palace: The big news for Palace is that Wilfried Zaha may miss his game due to a knock in midweek. Scott Dann should return after match fitness issues. Max Meyer looks set to miss this game through illness, same with Alexander Sorloth. Joel Ward is out with a knock. Connor Wickham will be assessed.

Everton vs Crystal Palace Head to Head:

Everton won this fixture last season 3-1.

There have been 4 draws from the last 6 meetings.

There is a 75% chance to see under 2.5 goals.

Everton vs Crystal Palace Prediction:

There is a clear objective with Everton which was firmly seen in the Fulham win and that is having the belief to beat teams that Everton would expect to finish above in the league. Silva has the team playing fluid attacking football and the defence should come together as the season gets on. Palace simply do not pose a threat to this team away from home and if Everton want to take the right steps forward they need to be winning these games. So our main bet is to see them getting all 3 points here.
