England Premier League
Saturday 12th December 2020
Kick off at 8pm GMT
Venue: Goodison Park
Match Preview:
On recent form Everton would be 15th and they would have nothing to complain about after early season hopes have been somewhat dashed over the past month.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side have fallen down to 9th place and have just 1 win in their past five. Last weekend they found it hard going against Burnley who have struggled for much of the season. Although at least the club were able to come back after going a goal down in the first moments of that game and it ended 1-1.
Everton are still in touching distance of the top four and are just four points behind but more points dropped in this game and a tough Christmas period may see the club drift off and points are really needed alongside the consistency that they started the season with.
At home Everton have no wins in their last 3 games and we would have to go back to the beginning of October for the clubs last victory which came against Brighton.
Chelsea have been near on perfect in the last three months and have become a title contender in the process. The club have also sailed through their Champions League group stage. In the Premier League they have climbed to 3rd place and would go top with a win. Although this may only hold out until Sunday as Tottenham and Liverpool are playing their respective games then.
Last weekend Chelsea beat Leeds 3-1 at home after going a goal down and they have earned 13 points from their last 15 available. On form the club would be in 1st place and they have only conceded twice in their last five. Away from home they remain unbeaten with 3 wins and 2 draws.
Team News:
Everton: Fabian Delph has a hamstring injury and is a doubt for this game. Jean-Philippe Gambin has been pencilled in to return from long term injury for this game but there is yet to be any indiction that he will. Lucas Digne is long term with his ankle and could likely miss the next two months.
Chelsea: Callum Hudson-Odoi has a hamstring injury and looks set to miss the next 2 weeks. Hakim Ziyech is also out with the same problem and isn’t due for a return until the Christmas period.
Everton vs Chelsea Head to Head:
Last season Everton won this fixture 3-1.
The last time the teams played in March Chelsea won 4-0 in London.
3 of the last five fixtures have had the correct score at half time as 0-0.
Chelsea last won at Everton in 2017.
Everton vs Chelsea Prediction:
Chelsea have the better players but also have Hudson-Odoi and Ziyech out and those are two key players who could easily have made an impact on the game. Everton have recorded some good results over the Blues at home but coming into this game there is no mistake who is the more confident team and playing better football.
Chelsea have a good away record but haven’t always been convincing, with some matches being close and we remember the 3-3 against West Bromwich Albion for example. But the club have scored 5 goals without conceding in their last two games.
Everton have a team capable of winning, the likes of James Rodriguez, Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are a match for any club on their day, and it would be good to see a performance from James like his first three matches for the club.
This remains a very difficult task for Everton though, can they raise their game against a top four side or will the bad run continue? We think their bad run looks set to continue.
Everton vs Chelsea Betting Tips:
