Everton vs Burnley: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 13th March 2021
Kick off at 5:30pm GMT
Venue: Goodison Park

Match Preview:

Everton’s qualification for next seasons Champions League took a dent as they lost 2-0 away to Chelsea last Monday but the club still have a great chance of making the top 4 and shouldn’t give up just yet.

Currently Everton are in sixth place and just 4 points behind Chelsea in 4th, and Everton have a game in hand. Take out the Chelsea loss and form for Everton had been good with 3 wins in a row. One problem for the club, which has held them back this season has been their home form but they were able to win their last game at Goodison beating Southampton 1-0.

Overall though Everton’s home form has been poor and it is actually their impressive away form which means they have had a good season so far. For some perspective, from the clubs last 15 points available at home they have won just 4.

Burnley could get involved in a relegation fight and come here in 15th place but with just 30 points. They are only 4 points from the bottom three and have won just twice from their last 10 league games. Last weekend the club played well in getting a 1-1 draw at home to Arsenal and they have drawn their last two games. However away from home it has been seven losses so far and they have earned 12 points from a possible 42.

Team News:

Everton: Abdoulaye Doucoure is the big blow for Everton and he could miss the rest of the season with a foot injury. Robin Olsen has a knock and is touch and go for this match. James Rodriguez is out with his calf for at least another two weeks. Gylfi Sigurdsson has an ankle injury and will face a late assessment. Fabian Delph is out with his tendon.

Burnley: Ashley Barnes is out with a thigh injury and Jack Cork looks set to miss the game with his hamstring, it’s the same story for Charlie Taylor.

Everton vs Burnley Head to Head:

Everton won this fixture last season 1-0.

Earlier in the season the clubs drew 1-1.

The last 4 games in a row has ended in under 2.5 goals.

Burnley have won just once at Everton in the last 10 years.

Everton vs Burnley Prediction:

Our tip is to see Everton pick up the three points but with some key players out they will have to control the pace of the game and not be afraid to attack.

In some of Everton’s poorest results this season they have started games slowly and that gives the opposition more confidence as the game goes on even if Everton had started as the favourites to win the game.

One player who has played well for the club this season is striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin however he has stopped scoring goals, and one would be looking at him playing Burnley at home to resume scoring again. Calvert-Lewin has a good recent record over Burnley, so he should be picked at good odds to find a goal during the game.

Everton vs Burnley Betting Tips:

Anytime goalscorer: Dominic Calvert-Lewin at 2.30
