England Premier League
Friday 3rd May 2019
Kick off at 8pm BST
Venue: Goodison Park
Match Preview:
Friday night football is as rare as hen’s teeth at Goodison Park and hopefully there will be a good atmosphere when Everton host Burnley in their penultimate game of the season.
The Toffeemen have climbed to 9th and need to win this game to have any chance of catching Wolves in 7th who are 4 points clear. Marco Silva’s team have been very impressive for two months now, losing just 2 games in that time. The clubs last match finished 0-0 against Crystal Palace, however most would agree Everton were unlucky not to get the 3 points having dominated the game at Selhurst Park. Fans will remember Everton’s last match at Goodison Park though, which finished with the excellent 4-0 win over Manchester United.
Burnley are now safe with 40 points, they lost their last game to Manchester City but it only finished 1-0. In general the team have been able to turn around their poor form since 2019, with some solid displays both home and away. Away from home they have gone their last two matches unbeaten, and overall their recent form is very good, winning 3 of their last 5 games, and only dropping points in well fought matches against quality teams Man City and Chelsea.
A win for Burnley tonight would see them jump 2 positions from 15th to 13th, however will that be enough to motivate a team who are already safe from relegation?
Team News:
Everton: Andre Gomes is still suspended following his red card. At the time of writing he is the only player missing from the main first team going into this game
