Everton vs Brighton: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 4th November 2023
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Goodison Park

Match Preview:

Everton’s form has improved over the past month and they have won 3 games and the good times have continued in the EFL Cup in midweek as they beat Burnley 3-0 and have reached the quarter finals. Everton will play Fulham in the next round and one has to wonder if a cup final is beckoning for the long suffering fans.

Last weekend Everton beat West Ham 1-0 to give their season a real boost and they have 10 points and have gone five clear of the bottom three. On form Sean Dyche’s side would be 7th in the league and the team will be roaring to go on Saturday afternoon. However the Toffees have lost 4 of their five home games so far but they did win their last one which was a 3-0 win over Bournemouth and confidence seems to be growing.

Brighton’s form has hit a wall and they have gone four games without a win but they are still in 7th place and have 17 points and a win at the weekend would put them back in the mix, a loss though or even a draw could see Roberto De Zerbi’s fall off the leading pack. Last weekend was seen as a disappointing result as the Seagulls at home could only draw 1-1 with Fulham. While Brighton have lost two games in the last month they were both away and against strong sides in Manchester City and Aston Villa.

Team News:

Everton: There are no new injuries for the club but Seamus Coleman, Dele Alli and Andre Gomes all remain sidelined.

Brighton: Julio Enciso is out long term with a knee injury, Pervis Estupian is recovering from a muscle injury and remains a doubt. Tariq Lamptey, Soloman March, Danny Welbeck and Jakub Moder are all out.

Everton vs Brighton Head to Head:

Last season Everton lost this fixture 4-1

Everton did beat Brighton 5-1 away from home and this is the latest meeting between the sides.

The last three meetings have all seen over 4.5 goals.

Everton vs Brighton Prediction:

It’s been a tough time for Everton off the pitch with the passing of chairman and much loved public figure Bill Kenwright and it will be odd for fans not to see him in the stands. There is also the threat of a points deduction over FFP rules and reports have suggested a 12 point fine, that could effectively wipe out all of the clubs efforts this season. Perhaps then the mindset is to put enough points on the board so if that does happen the penalty wouldn’t affect them as it could do.

Everton have been questionable at home but in all competitions they have won their last two here and we expect them to get something this weekend too. The road is still a rocky one for Dyche’s side but you can see a lot of work is going on behind the scenes. Brighton are a strong and exciting team but their away form isn’t going to be close to their home one this season and they will of course remember the last time they faced the Toffees which didn’t end well for them. We will back the side at home and the one that is currently showing the best form and confidence. The Toffees at home are the underdogs and are great value to get the points.
