England Premier League
Tuesday 3rd January 2023
Kick off at 7:45pm GMT
Venue: Goodison Park
Match Preview:
Everton remain an enigma, as they have played poor football this season and struggled at times and yet they started well especially in defence and then last weekend they came back against Manchester City away from home to draw 1-1 after being on the back foot.
The display against City was Everton at their best and organised and even though a relegation battle is looming for the Toffees it will be fighting displays against the champions that will give fans hope. Everton are in 16th place with 15 points but just a point shy of the bottom three and while the result against City was a positive one they are far from being out of danger. Form is still poor for Frank Lampard’s side with just 2 points won from the last 15 on offer. At home Everton have really suffered with the third to worst record in the league with 8 points won from a possible 24 including 3 defeats in their last four games. Home fans will be demanding more but Brighton won’t be the easiest of opponents.
Brighton have been solid under Roberto De Zerbi however they have lost 2 of their last three games coming into this one. At the weekend they were beaten 4-2 at home to Arsenal. On Boxing Day they did beat Southampton and remain a dangerous side and they come into this game in 9th place with 24 points, they could well move up 2-3 places with victory here. Away from home the Seagulls would rank in 5th place and have won 50% of their games which is impressive. This includes winning their last two in a row and they have scored 6 goals in that time.
Team News:
Everton: Anthony Gordon will be assessed as he missed the last game due to illness, Michael Keane is out with a knee injury but should be back in two weeks. Yerry Mina was also ill and missed the last game and he will be assessed. Amadou Onana is suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season. Andros Townsend is out for at least another two weeks due to his knee and James Garner is out for at least a month with his back.
Brighton: Alexis MacAllister could return after his World Cup duties but hasn’t been confirmed to start. Adam Webster has a muscle injury and is out for at least another two weeks. Danny Welbeck remains a major doubt with a muscle injury.
Everton vs Brighton Head to Head:
Last season Everton lost this fixture 3-2, it was the first time that Brighton had won at Goodison Park.
Brighton have won just one meeting from the last 5.
There is a 60% chance to see under 2.5 goals.
Everton vs Brighton Prediction:
Is a situation developing with Everton where the players are feeling uncomfortable playing at home? It’s possible that the longer the game goes on at 0-0 that the fans will make their frustrations known. The fans have been left frustrated at home this season and in the last game witnessed their side take the lead against Wolves only to lose the game in the last minute of injury time. The City draw feels like a win and is some restbite but at the same time results are not coming at home and fans will be demanding that their club put in 110%.
Brighton are no roll overs but traditionally they struggle away at Everton and if Frank Lampard can rally his side and motivate them and with some players returning Everton has every chance at a very good odds of getting something from this game.
Everton vs Brighton Betting Tips:
