Cork City vs Galway United - Asian handicap (-1 Cork City)

Odds: 1.95 Bet365 (At time of posting)
League: Ireland Premier Division

Betting Tip Previews:
Our first selection (To win either half - Shamrock Rovers) is a little cautious because I believe Shamrock have a great chance of winning the match, however, when the odds allow it, there is no harm in adding an element of safety. The new Ireland Premier Division season has only just begun, so there isn't much form to go off coming into this match however that can result in better value odds while there are some unknowns. Shamrock have strengthened pretty well over the summer, and despite losing their first match of the new season, it was away to the Bayern Munich of Irish football, Dundalk. Whereas their opponents tonight (Bohemians) suffered a 4-1 home thrashing at the hands of Derry City, and if last season is anything to go by, Bohemians are generally far stronger at home than on their travels, so that doesn't bode well for their visit to Tallaght Stadium tonight. Generally speaking Shamrock are one of the stronger teams in the league and won this encounter 3-1 last season. Being a derby game should make it a little more competitive, however with some good summer acquisitions and home advantage, Shamrock should be able to win at least one of the halves tonight.

Our second selection (Asian handicap -1 Cork City) is my preferred selection of the day. Cork City are the most likely competitors to Dundalk for the League title this year, and they have already got off to a winning start when visiting Finn Harps last week, and Finn Harps is not an easy place to come away with 3 points. Cork City are a very strong side, and at home last season they managed more wins than any other team, with 14 from 17 home league games, scoring the most goals (46) and conceding the 2nd least number of goals (11) in the process. On top of that, both times they played Galway last season they managed to put 5 goals past them, winning both matches obviously. Galway got off to a disappointing start to this season losing 1-0 at home to Drogheda, in a game where they didn't make their 1st half chances count. They are unlikely to get as many chances tonight, so they will have to be more clinical to stand any chance of points, and with 10 losses from 17 away games last season, getting something from this match looks a difficult task. On paper this should be a comfortable 3 points for Cork City.
