Crystal Palace vs Wolves: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 30th January 2021
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Selhurst Park

Match Preview:

Crystal Palace and Wolves have won 1 game between them from their last 10 altogether and that winning feeling has abandoned both sides, can one of them come out with 3 points at the weekend?

Palace are in 14th and Wolves are in 13th and they both have the same points (23), so there is a lot to play for in this game. Palace lost 3-2 at home to West Ham and that means they have lost back to back games. The Eagles should be safe this season but have only earned 5 points from their last 15.

At home the Eagles have won just 30% of their games and whilst they started the season off well and stubborn in defence it is fair to say that they have dropped down a few levels since then.

Wolves have just 2 points from their last 15 as they continue their worst form of the season. They have been hit by some key injuries although did welcome back Daniel Podence. It could be said that Wolves walked away with a great point in their last game as they drew 0-0 away to Chelsea. It was significant given that the Blues would have been up for it in the light of Thomas Tuchel’s first game in charge of the club. Though Chelsea dominated the game Wolves were able to hang on and one would think that the club will take something from that.

Wolves have lost 50% of their games on the road but have gone their last 2 unbeaten. The worry is the lack of goals they score away from home, currently they have just 9 and even West Bromwich Albion in 19th place have scored one more.

Team News:

Crystal Palace: James Tomkins is a big doubt with a knock. The club have Jeffrey Schlupp, Wayne Hennessey, Nathan Ferguson all out long term.

Wolves: Rayan Ait Nouri has a knock and will be assessed. Marcal and Raul Jimenez are out long term.

Crystal Palace vs Wolves Head to Head:

Last season this fixture ended 1-1.

Wolves have won the last two meetings between the sides in the league by the correct score of 2-0, although Wolves were at home on both occasions.

The last six meetings in all competitions have ended in under 2.5 goals.

Crystal Palace vs Wolves Prediction:

This is a really tricky game to call, which could go either way, potentially with just the one goal being scored to settle the match. Due to the home advantage we will go with Palace to edge the win but cover the draw with a refund for extra safety. Palace need to find their early season form which made them so difficult to play against. Of course Wolves will be a danger and would have taken heart from drawing and keeping a clean sheet at Chelsea. But Palace can’t be taken lightly and some of their players are getting back up to speed after minor injuries.

This should be a close game and we don’t expect to see many goals so we will concentrate on the home win with the draw covered as a choice and also anytime goalscorer.

Crystal Palace vs Wolves Betting Tips:

Asian handicap (0.0 Crystal Palace) at 2.11

Anytime goalscorer: Wilfried Zaha at 3.25
