England Premier League
Saturday 13th March 2021
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Selhurst Park
Match Preview:
Crystal Palace have gone their last 3 games without a win and they come into this game in 13th place with 34 points. The Eagles have never looked like a team who could go down and they should be safe this season but at the same time there is still no guarantees of that.
Roy Hodgson’s side looked like a shadow of themselves as they lost 4-1 at Tottenham in their last game and whilst Palace have lost 12 games this season they have usually been good in defence and made it difficult for the opposition.
Palace have drawn their last two games at home and their last match at Selhurst Park finished 0-0 against 2nd placed Manchester United but the club have only won 4 times at home so far.
West Bromwich Albion are 8 points from safety and they look like they are going down. Of course there remains a glimmer of hope for Sam Allardyces’s team and they have only lost one game in their past five. The Baggies could have done with 3 points last weekend though when they could only draw 0-0 against Newcastle. The club currently has the 2nd to worst away record in the league and have earned just 1 point from their last 12 available on the road.
Team News:
Crystal Palace: Nathaniel Clyne could be in contention to return from a muscle injury and he will be assessed. Wayne Hennessey faces a late assessment because of a lack of match fitness. James McArthur and James McCarthy are both not due back until April. James Tomkins is still out with an eye injury.
West Bromwich Albion: The only concern for the club ahead of this game is Kieran Gibbs who still has his neck injury.
Crystal Palace vs West Brom Head to Head:
It’s been 5 games since West Bromwich Albion beat Crystal Palace in the league.
Earlier this season in the reverse fixture Crystal Palace won 5-1.
There is a 60% chance to see under 2.5 goals.
Crystal Palace vs West Brom Prediction:
All of the pressure is on the away side and quite frankly when questions have been asked of West Brom they have rarely been able to come up with answers. This looks like a tough game for the club and they will be coming into this match as underdogs.
Crystal Palace are not in good form but this could be the perfect opportunity for the likes of Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke to have chances on goal and earlier in the season the pair scored 4 goals against the same side.
Our tip here is to see a home victory but with the refund covered on the draw just in case, and for Zaha to get on the score sheet. For smaller stakes let’s look into the correct score. Perhaps it is unfair to dismiss West Brom completely but this is a tough ground to visit and Palace are due a win. The price on Palace to win seems very generous to us and given the joy that Zaha had against the Baggies earlier in the season his value is even better.
