England Premier League
Friday 27th October 2023
Kick off at 8pm BST
Venue: Selhurst Park
Match Preview:
It’s just one win in their past five games for Crystal Palace and they will quickly want to forget about last weekend when they were demolished 4-0 away to Newcastle. Though the Eagles have already pulled out some decent results like beating Manchester United away from home you can’t keep picking away results out against the best teams in the league and they will quickly have to move on from this latest defeat which is their third of the season.
Palace come into this game in 11th place with 12 points and while this hasn’t been a terrible start by the clubs standards they are on course to rinse and repeat the seasons that they have had in the last couple of years. The good news is that the Eagles seem to have little chance of flirting with relegation, the bad news is that progress is not on the schedule. The club's last home game finished in a 0-0 result against Nottingham Forest. Roy Hodgson’s side have gone three games unbeaten at home with victory over Wolves and two back to back draws against Fulham and Forest.
Tottenham are in 1st place and who would have expected that after the sale of Harry Kane and 9 games into the new season? The clubs latest 2-0 win came against Fulham and they have gone 2 points clear at the top ahead of Manchester City and Arsenal. A five point lead heading into Saturday would look very good for a club who haven’t won the league title since 1961 and there are great vibes and a real buzz at the club currently. Alongside Arsenal they remain the only unbeaten side so far but manager Ange Postecoglou was very critical of his side in the Fulham victory. In the past this has seen Tottenham go into their shell but you get the feeling that with the Australian in charge this will motivate this set of players even more. Do they need any motivation or convincing? Well currently Tottenham has the best away record in the league with 11 points won from a possible 15 and their last away win was against Luton with that game finishing closer than most people would have expected, 1-0.

Jeffrey Schlupp is on course to miss out here with an ongoing muscle injury. Michael Olise remains sidelined with a hamstring injury. James Tomkins is out with his calf.
Tottenham: Rodrigo Bentancur has finally recovered from a knee injury but has fitness issues and this game is likely too soon for him. Manor Soloman has a knee injury and is expected to miss the next two months, Ryan Sessegnon remains sidelined with a hamstring injury and Ivan Perisic is out for the season with a knee injury.

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Prediction:
Tottenham are odds on but a very decent price to win this game. They are completely on top of their game and even though their 2nd half performance against Fulham was criticised by their own manager they still won that half 1-0. It was a gentle nudge to not switch off in game and perhaps go all ‘spursy’.
Palace have a decent record at home with one loss so far in this campaign and while they are struggling to win games here given that they actually have a better away record so far they are a solid unit at home. Ask Arsenal who just got over the line in a 1-0 victory earlier in the season. Palace will want to bounce back after the Magpies defeat but they could be heading for another one as right now their opponents are too strong for them.
