Crystal Palace vs Tottenham: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Wednesday 4th January 2023
Kick off at 8pm GMT
Venue: Selhurst Park

Match Preview:

Crystal Palace are in 11th place and have won 3 of their last five games, although their recent win over Bournemouth will go a long way as that was the Eagles first victory since the league restarted. The game finished 2-0 to Patrick Vieira’s side who now have 22 points and have a real chance to enter the top half of the table.

With a win here Palace could shorten the gap to Tottenham to just 5 points. At home 13 of their 22 points have come here and their most dominant result is the home win with 4 wins from their opening 8 games. Palace’s recent home form was very solid having won their last 3 in a row however that ended on Boxing Day with a comprehensive 3-0 loss to Fulham and felt like a real wake up call.

Tottenham have blown a league title chance over the past five games and now they are in danger of not even making the top four. First it was Newcastle who went past them and now Manchester United have done so too. Tottenham come into this game in 5th place but could go 4th with a win here if Manchester United have dropped points on Tuesday evening. Even Liverpool who have had a miserable season are only two points shy of Tottenham and the big reason for the drop off is the obvious one: not winning games. Antonio Conte’s side have won just once in their past four games and this has been incredibly damaging for them. Their two recent defeats have felt like wake up calls that have confirmed that while the club ooze class they are not on the level they should be. Liverpool and more surprisingly in their last game Aston Villa have come to Tottenham and won.

On the road Conte’s side are the 6th best team in the league with 12 points won from 24 and two losses so far which came against Arsenal and Manchester United.

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Prediction:

Tottenham have had a hard time of it lately and recently they have struggled to get wins at Crystal Palace. We are tempted to back Palace but on the handicap to cover a draw and that is pointed out because the clubs have drawn here a few times in recent years.

Tottenham’s form will change at one point they have too many quality players to keep this poor form up however their confidence at this point in time looks shot and they are missing too many key players. If Palace keep to their game plan we don’t see Tottenham getting much joy here.
