England Premier League
Wednesday 15th December 2021
Kick off at 7:30pm GMT
Venue: Selhurst Park
Match Preview:
Crystal Palace will be a very happy team indeed as they get to stay at home after beating Everton 3-1 last weekend here. Palace had gone four games without a win so the victory over Everton was huge for them and they are now in 12th place.
A second successive win could see the Eagles move up 2-3 positions depending on results around them but they will be expecting to do well here and will certainly fancy their chances. The three goals against Everton also ended the threat of a goal drought for Patrick Vieira's side who had gone their previous two matches without hitting the back of the net.
Southampton are in 16th place and have 16 points and keep this up and they should survive this season though it could come down to the final few weeks which nobody at the club would welcome. The Saints could join Palace on the same points with victory here although their inferior goal difference would mean that they won't be passing them in the league.
The Saints are in poor form which is something we should point out and they have won just 2 points from their last 15 available. Away form is nothing to get excited about and this does look like being a very tough fixture for the club.
Team News:
Crystal Palace: James McArtur looks very doubtful with his on going hamstring injury however he is being tipped to make the weekend games if he misses out here. Nathan Ferguson could be assessed but has had on going fitness concerns and has a lack of match fitness.
Southampton: Che Adams is hoping to come back soon from his recent hamstring injury but has been ruled out of this game. Fraser Forster has a hamstring injury and is expected to miss this game but could be back at the weekend. Alex McCarthy is out for an expected four weeks with a hamstring. Adam Armstrong has a muscle injury and is only 50/50 to take part in this game.

Crystal Palace vs Southampton Prediction:
It's really hard to go against Crystal Palace in this game and whilst both sides have been struggling for form lately the win over Everton should have re ignited the Eagles and the bonus of course is they get to stay at home.
Recent games has seen a lack of goals but Palace can score some here in midweek and Southampton do look a bit lost at sea currently. It's important for Palace to get a few wins together as Vieira has stated before that he is at the club to try and get them European qualification but they are a team who could do just that or have a forgetabble season in mid table which can easily happen.
All of the points should go to the home team though and maybe keep an eye on Wilfried Zaha who like last season has really been more solid and has been taking his chances on goal.
