Crystal Palace vs Man City: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Monday 14th March 2022
Kick off at 8pm GMT
Venue: Selhurst Park

Match Preview:

With Liverpool winning at the weekend the ball is back in Manchester City’s court, and with the gap down to just 3 points City need to find a win at Selhurst Park. The champions will be the odds on favourites to do so but Palace have upset City on a few occasions namely in the earlier fixture in Manchester back in October when Patrick Vieira’s side stunned City with a 2-0 win.

Crystal Palace are mid table with 33 points and all in all given this is his first managerial season in England Vieira has done a sterling job. What’s more Palace are in good form coming into this game and have gone their last 3 games unbeaten. That includes victories over Watford and Wolves and a draw against Burnley. Europe won’t be happening for the Eagles this season but they have avoided any threat of relegation some time ago and could well finish in the top half of the league. The club are also in the quarter finals of the FA Cup where they will face Everton.

Manchester City are aiming to win back to back titles and if it wasn’t for Liverpool they would have probably wrapped up the title by now. But the Reds who have been a constant threat to City for the past three seasons have 66 points, City has 69 and Liverpool still have to play them. This game will also mean that City have played one more than Jurgen Klopp’s side so any dropped points here would really be felt and could change the course of the title.

Take out the defeat against Tottenham and City have been superb since November and it is that type of form that Pep Guardiola will hold close to him as his team face a tricky Monday night game. City have won their last 2 games bouncing back from the Tottenham defeat with a controversial 1-0 win at Everton followed up by a 4-1 hammering of their bitter rivals Manchester United.

Team News:

Crystal Palace vs Man City Prediction:

Manchester City have the team to win this game but have Liverpool dealt a psychological blow by having played first and won? We witnessed this in 2019/20 when the Reds started to exert that pressure win games and then it was ‘over to you’ to see how games would play out and City failed then.

Palace will take this game seriously and being at home the fans will be up for this game and there will be a desire to make the match very hard for City to get into. We do think Guardiola’s side will win but they could be made to dig deep and this is a game that could become quite physical.

City are around 1.30 to win which offers no value so we will look into different markets.
