Crystal Palace vs Leeds: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 7th November 2020
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Selhurst Park

Match Preview:

After a bright start Crystal Palace have fallen to 13th place with ten point and have lost 3 of their last five games. One of those included last weekend when they were defeated 2-0 at Wolves.

Palace would easily move back into the top 10 with a win, and at Selhurst Park they have secured 4 points from a possible 9 after winning one, drawing one and losing one. Their last home game finished in a 1-1 draw against Brighton. The Eagles have shown some promise this season but it is easy to get sucked down in the league and lose concentration but the clubs objective has to be to stave off any threat of relegation and if they continue this form they will be more than fine.

Leeds have started the season with a bang playing really good confident football but they were brought down a few pegs last Monday evening as they lost 4-1 at home against Leicester. Though Leeds have now lost 3 games it was this one against the Foxes that felt more real, as if they were simply outclassed and it would have hurt the team and possibly dented their confidence.

This is a good crunch game as both sides come into this with the same points. Leeds have won their last two away games beating Sheffield United and Aston Villa and have lost one game on the road against Liverpool at the beginning of the season.

Team News:

Crystal Palace: Gary Cahill keeps getting delayed in his return from a shin injury but will face another assessment ahead of this game. Luka Milivojevic is suspended. James McCarthy could return after his hamstring but will face a late test, Joel Ward looks set to miss this game with his on going groin problem.

Leeds: Diego Llorente has been ruled out with muscle injury and he could miss quite a spell. Raphinha will face a late decision to make this game after recovering from his ankle injury. Kalvin Philllip is out until December with his shoulder injury.

Crystal Palace vs Leeds Head to Head:

The clubs have not played each other for seven years when that game ended 2-2.

Leeds have not beaten Crystal Palace away from home since 2006.

The last 4 league meetings has seen both teams to score.

Crystal Palace vs Leeds Prediction:

As their respective league positions suggest there is nothing between the clubs and we expect this clash to be very close.

Both teams possess the players to get the points and the midfield battle will be vital but an away game for Leeds is probably not what they would have called for after such a heavy defeat. Palace remain unpredictable but a solid outfit at home and that can surprise, so we are tempted to back Palace to win or draw as their counter attacking style might work well against Leeds.

But the real value will be if these two sides can give us goals and so we will concentrate on the goalscorers market and the talent from Wilfried Zaha and Patrick Bamford will hopefully be enough to see some goals scored.
