England Premier League
Monday 26th December 2022
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Selhurst Park
Match Preview:
Crystal Palace certainly would have taken the 19 points they have achieved so far after 14 games if you had suggested that before the beginning of the season, and the Eagles continue to make progress under manager Patrick Vieira. While they are far from the finished article the side are still capable of beating any other team on their day and they should be regarded as the favourites when they take on Fulham at home.
Palace though can also be frustrating and just before the break for the World Cup they lost 1-0 away to Nottingham Forest who have been struggling this season. The result was unfortunate as Palace were going for three wins in a row. With victory here they would move into the top 10 so expect the players to be focused and at home they have won 4 of their seven games so far. That includes winning their last 3 here with their latest result finishing in a 1-0 win over Southampton.
Fulham are in 9th place and have the same points as their hosts and like them they have started the season very well. Of course for the Cottagers it will mean more given that they have just been promoted and the goal for them is not to go straight back down. Currently that looks like a distant prospect but they will be hoping to keep some of their early season form. The worry is that the club have gone their last three games without a win and that includes back to back losses coming into this game which happened against both Manchester teams. Perhaps then the break for them came at the right time.
On the road Fulham currently have a pattern of win one lose one and if that follows here they would win this game. However they have lost four times with just two wins so far. They are scoring goals though and have netted 8 times in their last four games.
Team News:
Crystal Palace: Nathan Ferguson has some fitness issues and remains a doubt, Sam Johnstone is out with a back injury. Marc Guehi is suspended for picking up his fifth yellow card of the season. James McArthur is out with his on going hip injury.
Fulham: Neeskens Kebano is out until next year due to his Achilles injury. Manor Soloman isn’t due back until next month due to a knee injury.
Crystal Palace vs Fulham Head to Head:
The last time they played was in 2021 in this fixture and the match finished 0-0.
It’s been 6 games going back nine years since Fulham beat Crystal Palace.
3 of the last 4 meetings has seen under 2.5 goals.
Crystal Palace vs Fulham Prediction:
Crystal Palace have a good recent record over Fulham and with them being at home we will be backing Vieira’s side to take all 3 points. We should also remember that whilst Palace can be inconsistent their record at home just before the break was very good and it’s never easy playing Palace in front of their own fans.
Fulham’s form is poor but at the same time with the break happening when it did this could be an advantage for them coming into this game. But we can’t see past Palace here. We will also be keeping faith with Wilfried Zaha who has been impressive once again at the beginning of the season. This is a fixture with a recent history of low goals but we don’t see that happening this time out with the quality of goalscorers on the field and we will be backing both teams to score also. Currently Fulham are ahead of Palace but only on goal difference so the home side will have the motivation to go past them with this game and try to have a positive Christmas period.
Crystal Palace vs Fulham Betting Tips:
Crystal Palace to beat Fulham at 2.05
Anytime goalscorer: Wilfried Zaha at 2.10
Both teams to score at 1.66
