England Premier League

Kick off at 7:30pm BST
Venue: Selhurst Park
Match Preview:
Crystal Palace were very unlucky not to pull off the surprise win of the weekend as they eventually lost 4-2 to Manchester City at the Etihad. The Eagles had raced into a 2-0 lead by half time and it seemed as if their high press and brilliant defending was going to pay off. Palace had beaten City at home last season and Patrick Vieira seemed to have the midas touch once again. However City and Erling Haaland came roaring back and that was that.
Despite the defeat in the cold light of day Palace should be proud of their performance against the champions and some of their play has suggested that they could have a very solid campaign in Vieira’s second season with the club. It’s only one win so far though with that coming at home against Aston Villa and the club will feel that this is must win game. Points have to come at home, as the Eagles come into this game in 12th place.
Brentford have a point more than Palace and considering the Bees would have been amongst the favourites to be relegated this season they have started well. At the weekend despite playing some good football they were trailing Everton at home but with a few minutes to go snatched the equaliser and earned a point. It’s two games without a win for Thomas Frank’s side and this looks like being a tricky away fixture. The good news is that his side are scoring goals in all of their games so far and they have 9. Scoring goals even when losing or drawing just seems to bode well for the future, and the club will be quietly happy with themselves so far.
Team News:
Crystal Palace: Tyrick Mitchell will be assessed for a knock, Wilfried Zaha has a leg injury and is only 50/50 to return for this encounter. James Tomkins is out with a calf injury, James McArthur is missing with a groin injury. Nathan Ferguson is 4 weeks away with a foot injury and Jack Butland has a hand injury and isn’t expected back for another 10 days.
Brentford: Pontus Jansson has a foot injury initially it isn’t thought to be serious and he will be assessed. Sergi Canos is still out with his hamstring injury and not due back for another 10 days. Kristoffer Ajer could return but has some fitness issues and needs to be assessed first.
Crystal Palace vs Brentford Head to Head:
Last season in their two games played both games finished 0-0. Because of a lack of fixtures between the sides it means that the last goal scored in this fixture dates back to 1977.
It’s been 65 years since Brentford beat Crystal Palace away from home.
Crystal Palace vs Brentford Prediction:
The gaps in fixtures for the head to heads means we can’t look too deeply into those for patterns. All we know is that the teams were not able to muster a goal in their home and away ties last season, they have also got off to similar starts in this new Premier League campaign.
Wilfried Zaha is such an important player for Crystal Palace but his absence did not really hinder the side away to Manchester City at the weekend, perhaps he will return for this game but if not manager Vieira will look at the first half of the City game and have confidence in his side. We believe that Palace at home can be a tough fixture for most sides in the league and the bottom line is that the Eagles need to be winning their home games and picking up points. Brentford have been positive this season but they won’t be collecting many points on the road this season. It stands at 1 from their last six.
With Zaha being a doubt for the home side let’s look at Odsonne Edouard who is usually good for a few goals in the campaign and is due a goal. He works hard and if Zaha isn’t present he will be looking to get forward more and is a great price to score.
Crystal Palace vs Brentford Betting Tips:
Crystal Palace to beat Brentford at 2.10
Anytime goalscorer: Odsonne Edouard at 2.75
