Crystal Palace vs Bournemouth: Preview & Prediction

Egland Premier League
Saturday 13th May 2023
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Selhurst Park

Match Preview:

Both sides can come into this game knowing that they are safe but there is still a target to be had and that is to finish in the top half of the table, it looks distant but isn’t quite over yet.

Crystal Palace have lost a couple of games now under the returning Roy Hodgson though you sense it won’t matter a jot. No one wants to lose of course but Hodgson’s job has been done and that was to guide the Eagles safely to safety. Palace lost to Tottenham last weekend in a narrow 1-0 loss away from home, although their last home game ended in a 7 goal epic as Hodgson’s side beat West Ham 4-3. After a bright side under Hodgson though it has been just one win in their last four and fans will be expecting three points at the weekend. If Palace can win and Chelsea lose then Palace move into 11th place.

Bournemouth are in 14th place with 39 points and would go past their hosts with victory. The Cherries have been able to find good form just at the right time and have won three of their last five fixtures. Last weekend did end up in the clubs 18th loss of the season though as they came up short against Chelsea in 3-1 home loss. However away from home is where Gary O’Neil’s side have really impressed and they have won their last 3 by beating Leicester, Tottenham and Southampton.

Team News:

Crystal Palace: Naouirou Ahamada has a knock and will be assessed it is the same situation for Luka Milivojevic and Jeffrey Schlupp. James Tomkins is out with his calf with no fixed return date and Nathan Ferguson has been ruled out for the season due to a muscle injury.

Bournemouth: Hamed Traore remains sidelined with a foot injury. Marcus Tavernier, Junior Stanislas and Ryan Fredericks have all been ruled out for the season.

Crystal Palace vs Bournemouth Head to Head:

The clubs haven’t played here since 2019 when Crystal Palace won 1-0.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Crystal Palace won 2-0.

Crystal Palace have won 4 of the last five meetings.

The last four meetings in a row have ended in under 2.5 goals.

Crystal Palace vs Bournemouth Prediction:

Crystal Palace have a good recent record over Bournemouth and even though there isn’t much to play for Hodgson and his team will be determined for their season not to just peter out because they are safe and the job to stay up was secured early. Palace are still a tough team at home and they are sure to have a good advantage here. It is interesting to note that not many goals have been scored in these recent meetings and there is nothing to suggest that this won’t be the same case at the weekend. We don’t expect to see the most exciting game because both are safe and even in previous seasons these games have not lit up the weekends.

Bournemouth have a very impressive recent away record but that could be set to end in this one, winning away is always difficult and we don’t expect that run to continue against a side as strong and stable as the Eagles.
