Match Preview:
Chelsea’s bid for European football has taken a hit since they beat Everton 6-0 and in their next two games the Blues have only taken a point. First they were thrashed 5-0 by Arsenal and then drew 2-2 with Aston Villa. While the Arsenal result was a nightmare the Villa draw was impressive as Mauricio Pochettino’s side had come back from two goals down away from home. As it stands though Chelsea are in 9th place with 48 points and five points from a European spot but the good news is that they have two games in hand over most of their direct rivals, so not all is lost and this is one of those games.
A London derby is never easy though and Chelsea will be looking to their recent home form which has seen the club go four games unbeaten and we would have to go back almost 3 months since they last lost at home which came against Wolves. For Tottenham this is a must win game after they lost the north London derby against Arsenal 3-2. Tottenham have fallen 7 points behind a Champions League finish but they have 2 games in hand over fourth place Aston Villa. You would feel if Tottenham lost or perhaps even drew this game that their Champions League hopes would be in tatters. The club come into this game having lost their last two in a row including a 4-0 hammering at Newcastle and they have conceded 7 goals in their last two games. On the road Tottenham has the fifth best record with 24 points won from 48 and have only lost four games although it’s been almost two months since they have won away from home.
Team News:
Chelsea: Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka, Levi Colwill, Malo Gusto, Reece James, Christoper Nkunku, Robert Sanchez, Raheem Sterling and Lesley Ugochukwu all have outside chances of returning for this game or the next, but there are still major doubts if any of the mentioned players will do so. Romeo Lavia, Wesley Fofana and Enzo Fernandez have all been ruled out for the season.
Tottenham: Oliver Skipp looks set to miss out with a knock but if he does, he is expected to be back at the weekend. Manor Soloman, Ryan Sessegnon, Fraser Forster and Destiny Udogie are all out for the season now.

Tottenham showed some heart against Arsenal last weekend as they tried to mount a comeback and after trailing 3-0 in that game it finished 3-2 but the problem is it should not have been 3-0 in the first place. These are important games for Tottenham and one really has to question the club's mentality at this time. Has progress been made, that is in question. Chelsea has been equally frustrating this season and have no consistency both home and away but at home this is something that they are starting to show. The Blues have a great record over Tottenham in recent times but they are carrying a wealth of injuries and if Tottenham can click here and we get the version we all know that the club are capable of this could be a difficult match for Chelsea. Would it be that much of a loss if the Blues failed to qualify for Europe next season? After all their best shot would be in the Europa Conference League, not much change for a side who won the Champions League three years ago. For Tottenham though this is a cup final and their last chance for a top four finish is this game. The away team on the double chance to cover the draw looks like very good value to us.
