Chelsea vs Sheffield Utd: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 7th November 2020
Kick off at 5:30pm GMT
Venue: Stamford Bridge

Match Preview:

Chelsea have not lost a game in all competitions for seven games and whisper it but manager Frank Lampard and his batch of new summer signings may have just gelled and that could mean the best is yet to come for the Blues.

In midweek Chelsea made light work of Rennes in the Champions League and the club look on track to qualify from their group. That followed a 3-0 win at Burnley and the goals really are flowing for a side who have now scored 10 goals in their last three outings.

In the Premier League Chelsea have lost just once, in their past five games are unbeaten, but they have drawn three of those games and dropped early points. At home the Blues have won 1, drawn 1 and lost 1. A win would put them right into the mix and possibly in the top six, they come into this game with 12 points.

Sheffield United are yet to win a game this season and come into this encounter in 19th place. The one advantage the club has are that they are actually not playing terrible football and defending on the whole fairly well. This may bode well for the latter stages of the season but the Blades really need to start winning games and few will believe that they will be able to pick up anything away to Chelsea.

Chris Wilder’s team has conceded 10 goals this season and for a club in trouble like they are that isn’t too many. A great example of how stubborn their set up can be was last weekend when they only lost 1-0 to Manchester City.

Team News:

Chelsea: Kai Havertz has Coronavirus and is ruled out and won’t be back now until after the international break. Kepa is only 50/50 to return but may face a late test. Christian Pulisic is recovering from his hamstring he is also 50/50 and will face a test.

Sheffield United: John Fleck won’t be back until the end of November with a back injury. Ethan Ampadu cannot face his parent club.

Chelsea vs Sheffield Utd Prediction:

Sheffield United have been a thorn in Chelsea’s side but that could be set to end this weekend. For all of Chelsea’s good results recently they are a lacking at home and are a due a win and we think they can get a solid result in this match.

Timo Werner is on form and the home side have real quality and it would be a shock to see anything other than a home win. Sheffield United are not easy to play against and the key for Chelsea will be to score early. The problem in backing Frank Lampard’s side is that they are around 1.30 to win which offers very little value. But there are goals in the side and we think they have a spring in their step coming into this game and so backing them on the -1 asian handicap would help the value on them rise.

Chelsea vs Sheffield Utd Betting Tips:

Asian handicap (-1 Chelsea) at 1.575

Anytime goalscorer: Timo Werner at 2.00
